Heya,
I'm a former Mac Os player on AoE 2.
I bought a new PC, with Windows 7 64 bits last week.
Of course, I did install AoE 2 on it. And that's where I got some problems!
When I launch the game, with the Age2_1.exe, the game crashes. I have a black screen and a message: "Age of Empires 2 the Conquerors has stopped working". And then back to desktop.
However, I can play Age of the Kings without any problem!
I created some .bat file, which kills explorer.exe and launches The Conquerors. The game then runs fine, but the problem is: Gameranger does only allow .exe files... and when I convert it, it won't work!!
I found some new patch, the 1.1 one. Surprise: it works great!
Problem: on GR and Voobly, everyone plays on 1.0 or 1.0c
Solution: the Version Switcher => viewtopic.php?f=102&t=74987
Problem²: 1.0 and 1.0c won't work, the game crashes again... but when I put it back on 1.1, it works great!!
So does anyone know this problem? Anyone here playin Age of Empires 2 The Conquerors on Windows 7? Any experience with this?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Stark
