There is always a kind of thrill of you dont know who you are playing against. You even dont know if its a good or bad player.
Would it be an idea to have a tournament where players meet each other with no name, just called player 1 and 2, until the game ends? Then they reveal each others identity, if they had not guessed it already.
Of course there must be an organising 3rd party, who knows who they are and makes them meet, and does the neccesary messaging.
If even the list of contenders will be kept secret by the organisers, there always be the question "who is this playing here?" also for the viewers. In the 2nd round the names will be known, but not the seeding. Games will get more predictable when the numbers of contenders decrease near the end, building to a climax.
Is this ever done before?
Should someone try it, with for example a 16 player tournament?
