I think it is fine for dockable Nomad maps, where Huns are at a serious disadvantage. However, on Land Nomad, African Clearing etc., they shouldn’t get the horse.
Honestly, there are a lot of good things with this game. The pathfinding and units responsivity is beyond anything AOE games can even dream of.

The main reason is likely that he doesn’t practice (enough).
A secondary reason, though, which obviously affects all players, but maybe his style even more: The current state of pathfinding in DE, and especially the way archers regroup. It really takes away one of Liereyy’s trademark strengths.
