I think there's a misconception that this is mainly fault of 'few idiots on twitch chat'. However, if there are hundreds/thousands viewers there will always be couple of idiots, take that for granted. And it's the streamer who provides them the platform to leak info that can influence the game...
Fully agreed with every point. I think regarding the Islands and Migration the HC V version and TTL 3 version were really good.
I think the balance between water and hybrid is fairly good. The only exception is Kawasan, which isn't a hybrid map (or you could argue that for example Llangati from...
Last HC the players were quite wrong with their guesses. Obviously some are trying to be funny with wrong guess, but still only 3 players guessed their opponent correctly in Ro16 and that was after they played.
I know. Which means that the 2nd finalist of TatoH's qualifier is basically having 1 shot to make it in HC, other finalists have 2 shots. That's still not great. Plus there are the players that TatoH will run over in the previous rounds, they won't have 2nd chance.
I think HC is simply...
I 100% agree. There are 2 good options.
1) Invite let's say top8 players, but make sure those are really current top8 (not the case here - TatoH being possibly top3 atm is not there). 1 qualifier would be enough in that case.
2) Make 2 qualifiers, in that case it doesn't have as much impact to...
First, the competition is in arguably better state than it was years ago in 'Viper-domination' period. In 2015 with 'S-tier' 1v1 tournament, you basically knew Viper will win it. Even if it was Bo5, he was vs top10 player and 2:0 down, he was still the favourite to win the set. Hera isn't as...
Great news for Hera, horrible news for AoE.
- TG competition for the 1st spot is gone.
- Tournaments will indeed have GL vs GL in the Finals most of the time ('haha' Nili's 'crazy' prediction of NAC Finals - just fooling the community) which is WAY worse for the hype.
- In terms of raw power...
Mixed map tournaments were always more interesting for me as they were reflecting the overall player skill better. That being said, I think Arabia as the set G1 map is completely fine, if the map pools are adjusted. Most of the tournaments you're referring to didn't work this way though. It was...
EDIT: If you don't want to get spoilers, you likely shouldn't be reading this topic in the first place.
Other than group B, Gold League was really exciting, I believe by far the best Gold season so far. I was cheering for Nili to make it at least into Playoffs, he had playable group this time...
If I look at the last 12 months, I'm quite happy with the events and distribution, so just few personal highlights. If I'd have control over all the funding -
A) TTL being 2x/year is awesome, it's the format that was so needed. I'd add there funds personally - with a highly competitive league...
Just to give public statement - I was asked by Terror to leave the team on Sunday week ago. All remaining 5 players supported me on that matter and decided to leave CL aswell. Being unhappy about the situation, few members are taking break from competitive AoE. Terror is likely going to join...
Actually we thought about this, but prefer this system. It still gives players bit of time to react and plan and it's also decent for viewers and casters. It's exactly 2 seconds for 1 ban, so the automatic part of the draft takes roughly 45 - 60 secs. Don't think there's anything wrong with that.
I think it comes down to the original scheduling. If there was set time for teams to play and Austria said 'we have to finish this before xx, because yy has to go at xx', then Austria can't be blamed and everything went according to rules. I think it's still not too fair to use Liereyy for last...
I guess the woads buff is there so Celts still play Woads instead of the buffed champs now. But Woads were already one of the best UUs, they'll be ridiculously good now.
Yep, to sum it up. SongSong is dumb (we knew that) and got caught. Others are not as dumb, but did cheat aswell. And for that they're given 15% prize money reduction. If we're punishing the ones that were caught cheating by taking away 15%, it's pretty worth it to cheat, ngl.
Sometimes it's just lack of communication (depends case by case). But it's not uncommon situation that the tournament ends with great Finals, there's lot of hype.. And then there's at least 4 weeks of nothing. None informs players how the prize money will be handled, no information given. Then...
I don't get the decision. Why is the rest of VN A team pretty much not punished? Best case scenario:
1) all other VN A members instantly close the game in G1
2) it only happened in G1
3) Before the event, other team members asked SongSong and Badboy if they're going to cheat in NC. They promised...
I guess it's time to move to another topic then. SongSong's friend did apologize, SongSong didn't know what he's doing is not fair/against the rules, he'll learn from it. Give him some slack.
