They try to rationalize their decisions because they had their reasons in the first place. There's no reason to take offense just because the developers are trying to explain & justify their reasoning; if you honestly disagree with a change, you just have to make your point. There's no reason to...
Yes, the part where the HD version isn't even out yet, so there's no way to say for certain how compatible it will be, or how long it might take to work around that.
IIRC mods can be put up on Steam through greenlight. Depending on how mod-friendly this HD version is, it might even end up being a new beginning for AoFE when you think about it.
It sounds to me a lot like Doom's various ports, such as Zdoom and the like, which have been going on for nearly two decades without legal issue. I'd say the biggest thing legally is to make sure no one can play AoE2 with your engine by itself - that is, don't include any AoE2 assets with...
Sorry, I don't have a recording. Map was MegaRandom, though the map itself had a generous setup (land map, plenty of building space, all resources present and plentiful). Medium sized map. 6 players in a 2v2v2 matchup. Civ was Celts.
The thing that struck me as odd is that he ran out of stone...
Barbarian AI bug - I was watching a Barbarian AI play, and I came across this funny situation with an AI that wanted to tech up to Castle Age, but wanted stone for a TC at the same time. The AI would continuously buy 100 stone for a TC, then sell it for gold to get up to Castle. Every time it...
Well in that case, how about making an option to list the normal AI names even when something other than the "Computer" is selected? As in, even if you specifically select "Barbarian" or "The Horde" as an AI, the different AI names like Theodoric the Goth, King Charles VIII, Akbar, etc. will...
I'd figure that'd be the spanner in the works though - is there even a way to make a tech show up under certain maximum population conditions? If it's an easy addition then yeah sure, but I wouldn't want the devs to waste a bunch of time tinkering around in the engine just to please a segment of...
1000 pop is just a "for fun" addition. 200-250 pop is still considered standard and is what the game is designed for. If people have issues with 1000 pop, that's their problem for having greater expectations than "lolol" for it in the first place.
Fairly certain that maps bigger than giant are impossible in the engine, something about it being a hard-coded limit. I know it's been discussed in that past, in any case.
They've said that 1000 pop is a purely optional, for fun addition. Serious play should stay at 200-250 pop. Throw in 1000 pop when you just wanna play for shits & giggles.
In Firefox, you can use Ctrl +/- to increase/decrease text size on a page if you're having trouble reading some of the longer paragraphs. Ctrl 0 will resize it to default. I'm sure Chrome has a similar feature if you use that.
Dunno if this kind of testing is needed for this Voobly client thingamajig (pardon my newness  ), but for another project I used to work on, we had scheduled meetings for testing things with a group of alpha testers. Maybe something like that would be handy for this, to quickly churn out...
I just have to point out that I find this complaint particularly funny; there was so much whining about how Indians were weak in Castle because their camels couldn't raid as well, that they couldn't destroy building like Knights could. Now others are whining about Camels being able to destroy...
Figured I'd point it out to anyone who doesn't already know: the 2.1 Hotfix is scheduled for tonight. Guessing folks having issues can look forward to that; guessing the Boyar screw up might be rectified as well.
Paaaatch nooootes... Complete paaaaatch noooootes...
Don't have any of those maps cap'n.
Funny though, I definitely got the new installer. Played a silly game of 4v4 Goths DM with 1000 pop cap for shits & giggles earlier, so that much is definitely working.
Normal Plumed Archers always had 4 range. Only the Elite Plumed Archers had their range reduced - you no longer get +1 range when you upgrade to Elite.
FWIW Obsidian Arrows (new name for the tech) specificially says "archers, crossbowmen, and arbalests," so I don't believe it's meant to affect the plumed archers at all. In fact I'd wager the effect is intentional to give the standard archers some usefulness even after the Mayans get their plums...
"AoFE - Alaric, King of the Visigoths" is the only custom campaign I have.
Anyone else mind just sending me the campaign file? I'm wondering if mine just got corrupted somehow.
