Re: Official "Age of Empires II: HD Edition" arrives April 9
why not just wait and see what comes of all this?
my view is, if you build it... they will come. if they don't, you need to better.
AOFE showcases the improved AI along with a few other AIs created by people in the community. It's insane how much the AI has improved. How would you guys rate each of the AI (on different difficulty settings) for RM? Obviously, these ratings would be some what opinionated and arbitrary, but...
i interpreted it along the lines of whoever is designing/balancing the expansion should have, at the very least, same knowledge and understanding the of the game as kkab. i could be way off though.
you know what would be an interesting bonus... if you could research military upgrades at some other place other than their respective buildings. imagine if you could research crossbow upgrade when you hit castle at some building other than an archery range.. you could continue full production...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
can we beef up the scorpions in any way so that they are used more? maybe let the fletching, bodkin arrow, and bracer affect them?
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
Well that's already a bonus that the Celts get.. why not maybe improve it and use it as the new UT? Not like it's helpful in dark or feudal. having to build a castle and research it would take time and might justify "seige weapons fire 35%" faster or instance...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
oh right, no idea how i forgot that  . as for the persians TC, it would just be interesting to see it start from Dark Age.
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
that's an interesting thought but it's at the expense of their uniqueness. it's such a different bonus and part of what makes them so strong. if they have to build houses, then you lose time and have to pay attention. plus it would make getting rid of stone...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
Suggestion: Any way you can remove certain units for all civs on particular maps?
Today I was playing a LN FFA (No trade); however one of the players was trading (with a player that had resigned), and it was one of the reasons why his army was crushing mine...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
Well I agree with you on that.. not sure if camel was the best way to go, but I was speaking more generally about making each civ have its own unique feel. Anything we say on here is speculation as we can't really test in-game to check if is breaks a civ or...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
well i think it's important to make each civ unique; each has its own strengths and weaknesses. To add a unit to a civ and nerf it to keep it from being OP all because you don't want one particular civ to be "special" is a bit misguided. Huns have no houses...
Re: New Expansion (updated 28 Jul)
Byzantines? Are you serious? They already have the best trash (arguably the best tech tree in the game). Not to mention the fact they have cheap camels. No way they get imp camels without having to nerf them some other way.
Re: Beyond Forgotten Empires; Looking Ahead&Sharing Ideas
by comparison to other great man made structure and buildings, the "wheel" is something to sneeze at, however you can't take away how much the wheel itself revolutionized human culture.
i don't take any of my information from video...
