Meanwhile Robert came across very strongly as a BF nerd, at least on Bypass in a way that makes me think "not GL".
Honestly I think GL loves their Rage Forest enough that they're probably second only to the Amigos in terms of BF nerdery.

I don't believe any GL player would drop a palisade between vills on a woodline in dark age.Honestly I think GL loves their Rage Forest enough that they're probably second only to the Amigos in terms of BF nerdery.
Vasco | Hera | King Stephen | Daut |
Pachacuti | Sebastian | Selim | ACCM |
Sumanguru | Jordan | Khosrau | Viper |
Jean | Mihai | Sigismund | Yo |
Otto | MBL | Jan Zizka | Sitaux |
Jadwiga | Barles | Alfred | Lierrey |
Gajah | Tatoh | Alexios | Heartt |
Gregory | Vinch | Robert | Ganji |
I'd be very surprised by Selim-Vinch, especially because nobody called it on the day and it's something I see now that all sets are gone. I don't see where it would come from and what would give more Vinch vibes than Yo vibes, or maybe ACCM vibes, apart from "I don't want Yo to lose round 1 let's shuffle everything so that top 8 players all advanced".If Selim was Vinch then who the hell was Yo? I’m still bewildered by how many people ID’d him as Sigismund, certainly.
It was classically half the players, and was done by 4 players just this first round.I'm intrigued specifically by your choices for Robert and Sumanguru. The mid-late game stonewalling in one of the games Sumanguru won was classically Jordan IMO
It has been mentionned, but everything here screams Mihai in that player. I'm more willing to believe that Mihai (who lost first qualifier to Vinch in a set where Vinch did it 5 times) had decided to use that sentence during pauses for the memes, for instance.also nobody is mentioning the ‘sec drop 14?’ in the Jean game. We have seen Vinch say the same word-for-word phrase several times in the quals.
I was 100% on Sebastian-Khosrau, but after thinking about it and rewatching the drafts I'm ready to believe in the Jan-Sitaux theory as draft is a perfect match and as some deep-dive analysis of Khosrau looks Viperesque. But it's so hard for me to fathom that Sitaux played that game 1 and game 3 (not the level, but the style, felt out of place for him).Either way, four players looked (to me) very dominant: Vasco, Gajah Mada, Khosrau, and Jan Zizka. I can only put three names to them: Gajah Mada feels like Tatoh and two of the others being Viper/Hera. So who's the fourth one? Sebastian? Sitaux? I'm not fully convinced.
Honestly I think I'll also need to see more of Vasco tomorrow to know for sure that he's Hera and not Liereyy. Vasco felt very much like Hera but the games, even the one he lost, were really quick so it's hard to say for sure.I was 100% on Sebastian-Khosrau, but after thinking about it and rewatching the drafts I'm ready to believe in the Jan-Sitaux theory as draft is a perfect match and as some deep-dive analysis of Khosrau looks Viperesque. I must say while I don't think it's Liereyy, Robert's draft of Portugese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Franks, Lithuanians and Berbers seems more Liereyy to me than Jordan. The only thing is I know he loves Britons but I don't think he has used them much or at all in recent tournaments, so I could see that being Jordan
Bean if you require more proof that Jan is Heart, I recommend seeing the first 3 games. Heart is notoriously known to open spear-skirm and really force the issue. G1 arabia he found himself his initial feudal army against only archers and he immediately dived on them. Very very Heart like. This is completely different than how Viper micros his skirms. To give a bit of context, pls watch Khosrau vs Sigismund High Tides game (or the Hidden Forts game), you will see how clean and functional Viper micros his skirms. He times them perfectly, whereas Heart is more of a diver with his skirms. This Skirm timing is something the old pros did, Viper, Riut. Perfect skirm reload timingKalpit, I started this day so sure that Jan Zizka was Viper (doing both gg and GG due to the idle military hotkey being Caps lock for Viper) and the double stable approach in High Tides (I feel like I can only recall double stable in feudal from Viper in recent memory) as well as the gate nerding and trapping, but you have some really good evidence for Viper being Khosrau now
I don't know, that's a classic Jordan draft. Franks for Arabia (most likely) and Britons in draft, no new civ and more classic ones, that's pure Jordan civ draft.I must say while I don't think it's Liereyy, Robert's draft of Portugese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Franks, Lithuanians and Berbers seems more Liereyy to me than Jordan. The only thing is I know he loves Britons but I don't think he has used them much or at all in recent tournaments, so I could see that being Jordan
Pretty sure Heartt just beat Larry 3-1 at NAC5…some more proof i suppose
Jean Bureau = Mihai

Mihai did the exact Huns build on Cross vs Sobek. 5 on food, 1 on lumber (Most builds consist of 6 on sheep and then on wood). He proceeded to play CAs vs Sobek.
And the fact that 1000000% makes him Mihai is the palisades around 4 Lake trick to deny enemy dock. Fast forward a little and you will see it

He did the same 5 on food, 6th vil on wood build. Same palisade trick around lake
This would 100% solve any suspicion regarding Jean Bureau. If you guys want a bit more proof, please check the previous game of Jean vs Sumanguru. Mihai was all over the place. Chasing army with vils nonstop. He is the only player out of the 16 who I think would be that heavily nervous
Jean Bureau's late game felt extremely underwhelming. Even in the first slopes game where he was Spanish vs Franks, he had such a good position but his opponent ended up getting to Paladin. His overall macro felt quite weaker. In the Mongols vs Italians game, he went into it with a predetermined plan to make "proxy" stables, something he used to do a lot in arabia ladder. He took forever to react to the xbow army in his base. In the only game he won on Cross with Huns, he again went for CA, the same strat he did vs Sobek even tho clearly the game was super crazy with Sumanguru going full feudal MAA with dravidians
Some people think Jean Bureau could be Sebastian from the Huns game because he is teammates with Mihai, and also Sebas used Spanish in his Qualifier. However, Sebas loves Archers with a passion. He would seem to play xbow any chance he gets, and this was clearly evident from another player : Alfred The Alpaca
Alfred The Alpaca was indeed Sebastian. The 1 TC Xbow + mangonel push with NO archer armor upgrades is something only 2 real players would do. Liereyy and Sebastian. Now I am currently watching the set to prove which one of the two is them for sure. But, Alfred picked Huns on Cross, another indicator of Sebastian being teammates with Mihai.
Lastly, I don't see Liereyy losing 4-2 to Hearttt (Yes, Jan Zizka is Heart). I see that as a very possible score for Sebastian vs Heart.
That leaves Liereyy. Yes, indeed my hunch is Alexios is Liereyy, and I will check that set in the end (Alexios did the Turk Fast Imp on Bypass, same strat done by Vasco De Gama who is 99% Hera proving Alexios is Liereyy, practicing with Hera)
And another thing, G2 Bay was so Heart. He had a predetermined 2 dock opening plan with bengalis with 4 fish as his only food income. But, he lost the fish due to Seba being up faster. He had 0 vils on food in feudal start, and ended up having 2 mins of idle time. Yes 2 mins. Viper would never screw his food eco that bad intentionally, he is the most adaptable player ever. Furthermore, the entire game was just peak Heart. microing 3-4 archers vs skirms minimum range. Viper would never try that, but Heart will. Sniping those vils with lcav. Just the sheer APM emphasis put on micro told me this couldn't be Viper. Then he proceeds to throw the game with Bengalis Battle Elephants.
Sumanguru's draft does not remotely resemble Jordan's. If you look at the past NAC, he had a strong preference for closed maps like Copenhagen and Brood Wars, and in Hidden Cup 4 every round he first picked islands. This combo is only present with Robert Guiscard. I'm fairly convinced Pachacuti is Ganji based on both the map draft and gameplay.I am sorry but thinking Jordan is Robert is a disrespect to his legacy 11
I am just watching Sumanguru set and I see Jordan. the unit control. nobody else but him. His entire style is so macro oriented. In the Franks game getting conq mangonel pushed and he is just farming away and still wins with Paladins. Thats such an old school way of winning. Bay, he dropped like 10 or so TCs. You can really tell if a player is old school or not based on their basics. Jordan is so experienced in that he will see the game in a more refined way. He knows he is going to be raided by hussar, but adding so many TCs across the belt and throughout the map will lead to better trades to him. Mihai raided him nonstop all game, yet in the end Sumanguru never went below 100 vils. He raided him once in imp, once and Mihai was out of juice. Says a lot about the player's experience
Also, I am really feeling the Ganji vibes from Robert. I called him Bobby Barles earlier, but I take it back. The immediate stone walls on Gold rush screams Ganji (throughout the Qualifer, Ganji did not shy from stone walling once). The palisade drop while luring boar with solo vil is such a BF player move. Ganji or Barles. And lastly, I think the Japanese pick on Cross gave away Ganji. He played the same civ in his qualifer, same build, 20 pop feudal trying to double dock and wall up. Full adapt gameplay, except in his qual he was against Stark where he didn't need to make a single unit, while here he faced Liereyy in Alexios who absolutely started rolling him with the first 2 archer spears 11. check it out, you can see Ganji scrambling to get full wall down as his plan got denied. I am so so certain its Ganji in Robert :O
