Desert Bara is the combination of Battle of Africa 2’s Grand Bara and Desert Slope (both by Chrazini). Players will start with one town center each inside and outside of a thin tree ring. Inside of the tree ring is a crater with cracked terrain and scattered gold mines. Outside of the tree ring, lies an open semi-desert with baobab clusters and standard starting resources, but no extra mines.
Double African Waters is Battle of Africa 2’s African Waters (by Chrazini) with a double town center start. You will start with 2 town centers close to each other in the center, with a herd of rhinoceroses roaming. Each corner of the map offers a fish-rich lake, while all other resources are spread around the map on savannah terrain with small acacia forests.
Double Alpine is the 2 town center version of Alpine by Chrazini, in winter theme. Your town centers are in the middle of the map, close to your enemy’s. You will have herdables, berries and a little gold available, but everything else lies across a mountain ring.
Double Aquapolis is the 2 town center version of Aquapolis by TheMadCADer. Similar to Team Islands, you start on one big island with your 2 town centers. Each corner has a small island with either extra stone or gold mines, while a center island offers extra wood. Water between all islands is on a lower elevation than the land.
Double Atacama is based on the classic Atacama by Mr ED. A few clumps of palm forests in the middle of a dry desert. One of your 2 town centers is built on cracked terrain, the other one on sand, meaning one is more vulnerable to attacks, so scouting is essential if you plan to burn a village nice and early.
Double Aztlan is a reworked version of Chrazini’s popular Aztlan, now with double town center start, set in a cave environment like in the Aztec tales. In the center a waterfall brings some water into the cave, forming ponds populated by shorefish. Around your town center grow some berries, but otherwise almost all resources lie outside of the cave – in the map’s corners. Be careful of the jaguars – or hunt them for their meat (jaguars contain harvestable meat). The cliffy areas are unwallable and units can hide behind the boulders.
Double Badlands is the 2 town center version of Badlands by TheMadCADer, which already was featured in the 2017 Badlands Masters. Only the center pit offers rich woods and shorefish ponds, in a desert of cracked sand. Turkeys and boars in the desert are meagre and offer very little food, in compensation you start with more wood to drive an earlier expansion.
Double Bazaar War, created by HJ, now with 2 town center start: A flat desert with palm stragglers and a few small hills. And lots of carpets. One of the most-standard maps in the pack.
Double Coral, based on Chrazini’s Coral, lets you start on 2 small islands in a deep blue Carribean ocean. Each island with a town center, with only one uninhabitated island with dense rainforest in the middle, connected to all of them. Both economy and warfare will heavily rely on water control.
Double Ellie’s Belly: The classic 2015 Hippo’s Belly by The_Prophet in a new Southeast Asian dress and with 2 town centers per player. Open, wood-scarce land, but a big forest with roaming elephants in the middle, divided by a shallow swamp. Do you want to try the challenge to lure them through the jungle to your town or send your hunters into the dangerous jungle?
Double Floodplains is inspired by Roechelrochen’s Coast to Mountains. One side of the map is a mangrove forest, one side the sea with fish. Inbetween a muddy floodplain lies, where each player will start with 2 town centers between remaining puddles and a diverse wildlife.
Double Freezelands, based on TheMadCADer’s Freezelands, is similar to Double Badlands, just in a winter environment and ice around the starting town centers. So no farming is possible inside your town.
Double Ghost Forest: HJ’s Ghost Forest updated with modern terrains and double town center start. This might be the visually most unusual random map you will play. All plants have died. No grass, no leaves on the trees outside of a frozen forest in the map center. Areas which never see any light and units want to avoid. Sometimes scary things appear. 3 boars per starting area, but with less food.
Double Gobi: The double town center start version of TheMadCADer’s Gobi. Players start on one side of the map each, divided by a forest line with some unwallable passings. Around them just a hilly, extremely sparse desert with some wild horses and camels. No herdable animals, but deer and ibex (with 100 instead of 140 food).
Double Hallucination: HJ’s Hallucination with double town center start. A big oasis in the middle of a flat desert. The waterbody is so big that even some fish live in it. Similar to Mediterranean.
Double Karst is the 2 town center start version of TheMadCADer’s Karst. An open desert without huntables. But you start with a few farms and the center offers some puddles with shorefish.
Double Leaf Lakes, based on HJ’s Leaf Lakes, with 2 town centers per player. One big and 6 small lakes. All rich in fish, spread across Mediterranean landscapes. No huntables apart from boars.
Double Marshland: Chrazini’s Marshland. Nothing changed apart from adding the 2nd starting town center. Both players start on hills in the map center. Very close and with few resources. These hills are surrounded by a swamp with small golden islets, which you have to cross to reach the resource-rich border of the map.
Double Mudpool is the double town center version of Henkdesupernerd’s 2020 map with the original description: The fog never dissipates around the centre swamp area. Treacherous terrain will prevent building on it but armies might be able to surprise one another through tactical positioning. Lots of extra hunt to be found in the marshland, but the area is not for the fainted heart.
Double Okavango is inspired by Flooded by Jabark, now with a double town center start. Open land around the players’ starting area, which are divided and bordered by a mosaic of shallows and baobab forests.
Double Precipice, based on TheMadCADer’s Precipice, has 2 town centers per player in the outer lowlands and a high snowy mountain in the center. While the lowlands are food-rich woods, all stone and gold lie on the mountain top, with lots of rocks to prevent town centers and castles from being built.
Double Salt Lake uses the basic concept of the classic Ghost Lake. Your 2 town centers will spawn on the border of a large unbuildable salt desert. It is so dry that even the llamas are starving and javelinas avoid the area (llamas and deer have less food than standard). Do you want to try to hunt a few jaguars instead?
Double Savanna is an open completely flat plain landscape with your and your enemy’s 2 town centers divided just by grass and scattered acacia trees. Herds of zebras and elephants roam in abundance (no herdables).
Double Soul is The_Prophet’s Soul with a 2 town center start. A big island in the ocean with a dense center forest. Controlling the water will give access to fish, but not win you the game. We have seen many different strategies on this map already, when it was only 1 town center each.
Double Syrian Steppe is the 2 town center start version of TheMadCADer’s Syrian Steppe. It is very similar to Arabia, with some ponds and small forests in a dry desert. But roads will lead you to each town and outposts alarm when an enemy comes close.
Double Volcano, based on TheMadCADer’s Volcano, but with 2 town centers per player, takes place in a volcano’s caldera. The terrain is rocky, but buildable – just not on the outside. So while the center offers wood like in Hideout, you can always be attacked from behind. No boars, but lots of ibex.
Double Xerotes: The double town center version of TheMadCADer’s Xerotes. Similar to Acropolis in a desert environment, but with additional goldmines in the center. 3 boars per starting area, but with less food.
Enemy Islands: Like the special map, or if you didn’t play it yet, like Team Islands, just that each player will have one town center to start on each of the 2 big islands.
Eye by Zetnus, now with 2 extra town centers on mangrove shallows in the North and West, is a goldrush type map: Each corner with a town center and lots of gold surrounded by cracked terrain in the center.
Lagoon is a brand new double town center map featuring mangrove shallows, made with assistance by Zetnus. Your base might be relatively easy to wall, but then you miss out on the fish in the center lagoon. Ships created inside the lagoon cannot cross the sandy ring around to the shallower outside or the other way. No boars, but crocodiles can be harvested for food.
MFO The Swamp: A 2001 map by Python and MFO Mapster. 2 player lands each, divided by rivers with shallows. Plenty of food everywhere and not too much space to build. More standardised resource distribution than the original version though.
Snakepit: The second special map converted to a standard map. Each player will have a town center in the forest, with lots of huntables in between and another one close to the water, where fish could lead to an early advantage.
Set Maps:
Double Arabia, Triple Arabia, and ES@Metropolis are classic maps, which have only been changed slightly (e. g. elevation generation).
Double Gobi, Double Atacama, Double Arabia and Triple Arabia exist as separate Empire Wars (EW) versions. EW Double/Triple Arabia are based on KotD 3 Arabia (by Chrazini).
Triple Savanna is like Double Savanna, just with 3 town center start and respective resorces. Triple Arabian Valley is a slightly, but mostly graphically modernised version of the old Triple Arabia.
Those maps don't just use the "DC" prefix, but "DC1".
