In which way is Adder salty? He just told you his opinion and what could be done better and everything what was said to him in short is, everything is made in the best way and if you have problem you are the problem.
Upcoming Events on the right cluttered with irrelevant stuff instead of showing what's currently up, also shoving current live streams down.
Man i critisize, but blackadder salty shitposts is next level. Clam down man, the world isnt controlled by a deep state conspiracy controlled by lizard presidents.
Yes, which is why I offered two potential solutions to this problem when I see that they probably shouldn't be on the sidebar at this point (either only show events within x days or show a max of x events).
But you know, even if being on the side bar gives some additional exposure to the date/time that the event is happening, so what? That's the whole idea of the calendar and anyone can add events there. Are you telling me that you don't add key events to your calendar when you find out about them and instead wait until closer to the time? That's not what a calendar is designed for, it's designed to add key dates as and when you know them.
Oh well, any chance to jump down my throat you'll take it.
Just one example, the event isn't "irrelevant" that's just him having an issue with ECL ...
Saying something is irrelevant is very subjective.
Instead of talking about how the calender could have more options or could be better, he accuses Escape of using a frigging "irrelevant" calender for their personal gain and hurting the community with this "abuse".
If people actually paid attention, it would not be "salty shitposts" anymore. All you need to do to get a much better perspective on certain people's actions and events is to really just pay attention to discussions and actions and what's going on, and not erase your memory with every new super-hype announcement. The sequence of things and their context are very important in informing yourself about the intentions and honesty of people's words, and again actions.
Do you really think ZeroEmpires doesn't know how the calendar and upcoming events work when he's here all the time and is using it regularly as well, it's part of his business, with actually having an involved site mod in his team (it really doesn't matter if robo is sometimes posting on the Escape account, do you think they don't talk about such things? With his interest in presentation and announcement of announcements, that sounds rather silly, doesn't it - that's the whole point of announcement of an announcement, to just have it spammed everywhere)?
Again, if everyone did what you are doing in the current set-up, which is what we have and what we have to accommodate to, you can just ditch it altogether. You would have dozens of entries waiting to happen in weeks or months, especially if everyone just used sweeping descriptions like yours - NAC2 Day 1, NAC2 Day 2...
Calendar should be for putting in anything at any time when it's known, agreed, but the Upcoming Events doesn't work that way now, does it, so we should act accordingly to help make it useful - it's not any kind of novelty, it's how it works long-term. You're basically throwing blame at PkZ for your own wilful action.
As for the solution, yes, probably something along @nimanoe's idea like next 7 days on sidebar and clear link to a list of all events (not calendar, just a list of all events with dates) could work. Maybe could go as far as next two active (with an entry) days default, up until the 7 days on mouseover, and the link to complete list, sometimes the weekends are incredibly filled, so any reasonable reduction could help. Could be easy (albeit time-consuming, so a long-term plan) to add user options for personalisation however anyone wants it, not in player profile (you can see it's not a well-known feature what we have now), but right at the sidebar.
It is irrelevant to the purpose of the widget, because Upcoming Events is for "upcoming" events, what's going on currently, that's what it was created for and what people go to it for, not something weeks and months away, which is just going to sit there for the same amount of time. I didn't complain about the earlier ECL postings there as various people sometimes do that, even though I disagree with them so early as well, but with this extra, it's getting over the line and I think it important to point it out, because over-cluttered sidebar has been a repeated talking point here, as it really decreases its usefulness.
looks like somebody is having a bad day lolAgain, trying to help keep a good feature working when it's clearly abused for what it's not meant or even ready is in your eyes a bad thing... Well, your opinion.
How can Black Adder expect that someone is get him serious anymore after so much BS... hating because of the hating, not because it makes sense.. There is a saying in Dutch: "speaking is silver, being silent is gold" Maybe in English it's the same, but its time to achieve some golden medals for you Black Adder, don't digg that grave deeper and deeper.
Back to topic, very curious about the announcement, i expect something great, don't dissapoint me Zero ^_^
Why does it have to be bad thing that two events are going on at the same time ? If they don't overlap, which has been said to to be avoided, they could benefit each other. Just imagine some game KoTD starting right after the escape event, do you really think it's a bad thing if Memb get a host with 3k+ viewers ?So let's take a full weekeend out of KOTD quarterfinals week and call it fair.
What special this is going to be apart from one of those meaningless weeekend tournaments.

Nice assumption there bud
What else do you expect when you go for a cheap tactic called "announcement of an announcement"
Ahh apologies, I shouldn't play into a running joke/meme, gotcha. The dates are confirmed, we are adding it to the calendar because that's what calendars are for. Details are coming soon in an announcement post.
Well then maybe mark it in your private calendar for planning purposes and only make it public when you are ready to share something substantial.
Or post it on the calendar because we are absolutely entitled to do that given that it is an event that is going to happen on those dates. Finished squabbling now.
And maybe this event was planned long in advance as well ? Should it just be cancelled ? Is the AoE2 scene this small that two events can't happen on the same weekend on different times ?Much entitlement 11
Do you have anything substantial to share right now? Appears not considering the way it's announced.
What about spoiling one of the important KOTD2 weekends? The dates for KOTD2 were known in advance and this is goddamm quarterfinals week.

If you have that many events to organize then what are you supposed to do ? Create new weekends ?Yes 2 events can and may clash, BUT how is it ok to first hog most of the weekends in a year already in form of ECL and then announce hogging of another weekend to create clash.
Firstly Memb took great care to avoid clash. He even delayed KOTD2 for a month for this and Memb has said various times on his stream that he discussed privately to find the slot for KOTD2 before announcing KOTD2.
