Admin is trying too hard to get it called an Expansion. Obviously obsessed about it too. Wouldn't bother making your arguments guys as he seems so convinced and fanatical about it. A 27 year old who takes this too seriously, someone needs to get a life.
yeah man, we get it. You want FE to be set apart from the rest.
Don't take this the wrong way but it's not much use getting worked up about what people are calling it. From what I've seen around the AOK Heaven forums, everything made unofficially is referred to as a mod.
I say let the...
+1 This is being overanalyzed way too much. If some wanna call it a mod, fine with them. If some wanna call it an expansion, good for them. It's just a another game in the end. But I can understand why the admin for this forum feels strongly about this topic.
FE is a mod (made by modders) that expands on the official game. The rest are conversion packs. Simply really.
So the official title would be:
Age of Empires II: The Forgotten Empires (Unofficial Expansion Mod)
:D
+1, Calling it an "expansion" gives it the impression it is made by Microsoft and affiliates. "Unofficial Expansion" is how it should be strictly promoted as it is made solely by fan's of the game.
Disclaimer: The following is my opinion only.
I think the best way to stop this from happening is to improve the graphics. The first thing people notice is how the game looks (Graphics) and how the game plays (Coding). With the big patch coming soon that fixes a lot of the major initial bugs...
+ 1 to xC0RKYx's idea. It can sort of be where the ideas/materials for mods of the mod are put (modception).
EDIT – Interesting how the development of the Indian building set has been moved into the private forums. Imho, shutting the community out this early on hinders progress. You should let...
Pessimistic much? Even if it doesn't get implemented in Forgotten Empires by Cysion, at least people are trying to expand on the original set for anyone to improve upon. Besides, it's gives the coders and modders more ideas and materials to use. All of which is in the spirit of fan made...
Thanks man, that basically completes the Indian Building Set. If we could polish the building's a bit more (e.g imo, the stock Indian stable looks too bulky) we're close to having a working Imperial set.
Incredible work YanBG, really impressive. Just when I was giving up hope on the Indian Building Set.
Here are your buildings recolored below:
Seige Workshop
Mill
I modified your Town Center
Thankyou so much for the comments guys! :D
Sadly this Indian set is essentially missing the Town Center, Mill and Seige Workshop. Imo, it has the potential to be a workable set but creating these missing buildings takes a lot of time and effort.
Anyway here's a very rough prototype of my...
