There were several reasons why TG tournaments were the most popular back in the day, funding being the most important one. Interesting point about the DE implications to TG tournaments at launch, hadn't thought about that.
Nice! Loving the pod so far! I know some people have complained about the length of the episodes, but I just wanna say I like the length. It means I have a couple of days of good AoE content when I'm making my commute.
Keep up the good work!
I did mention that discord to you specifically pretty early in this thread. I must say I find this whole discussion a bit confusing. You and others present your view, which is fine, but when presented with evidence as to why you might be wrong on some points, you still keep on saying the same...
You misunderstood what I meant with that comment. I meant the pathing issues from way back are part of reason we have pathing issues today, it's the same code. I don't think we'll ever have perfect pathing without rewriting the code in its entirety.
I don't think we'll ever agree on the pro...
I'm not sure what you want the pros and the streamers to do? They use their channels to bring attention to it and discuss it with the dev team in the appropriate channels. I don't know what more you can expect from them.
I'm aware that pathing has been an issue since DE launched. Pathing has...
The pros have a discord with the devs, I'd be willing to bet that they mention it to them there. And the devs aren't blind, they are aware it is an issue. If it was as easy as just rolling it back to where it was three years ago they would probably have done it already.
With a bit of micro lancers are way better against small groups of pikes, that shouldn't be a surprise. Lancers are great at the start of Castle Age and break through walls quick, but they scale worse than knights and are worse against archers. They probably should be a part of your composition...
When it comes to the competitive scene I think it just ebbs and flows. Right now Arabia isn't as popular in tournaments as a couple of years ago, but in a year or two it will probably be back as game 1. KotD is a great tournament, but it might have helped oversaturate Arabia over the last couple...
True to some extent, but that can be said of almost any map (not necessarily water, but those types of decisions). And still, that has big implications on civ choice and strategy, especially on Nomad. I just don't feel like it is comparable to the Arabia meta at all, and I find that Nomad...
I agree with your take on Arabia, but not Nomad. On Nomad you can't assign those roles before seeing where you end up, if you have an enemy close or if you are by yourself. If the designated water player ends up close to an enemy, for example, they might not be able to go water at all which...
