it should not be possible to bild a foundation if a enemy unit is less than 3 tiles away (maybe 2, maybe 4 I don't know whats the proper number). This way every aspect of walling stays the same, but quickwalling when attacked is impossible.
I also dislike the solution, to change the complete format.
Why don't you just keep the whole finale thing as it was planned the whole time and use the extra money to fly in finland and contribute to a pricepool for some showmatches between them/am/secret.

Maybe this could have been done and organized by the casters...
Make a map, that is mirrored (so the same ressource location for everyone) and play a mini tournament 1v1 arabia maybe even on explored.
so there's always the exact same map in every single game.
choose randomly 3 players, for example jordan-mbl-bact
two of them, jordan(p1), mbl(p2) are playing arabia 1v1, bact is watching.
after 5/10 minutes they rotate so that bact(p1), jordan(p2) mbl watching.
after 5/10 minutes they rotate so that mbl(p1), bact(p2) jordan watching.
and again and...
would be even more awesome if the units were bigger and maybe more colored, to be able to distinguish the different players better. When units are running around it is very difficult to see, whom's units they are.
