Just wanted to second this thought. The seeding is so important when there are qualifiers for this, and it doesn't take much to put a very good player in a borderline impossible situation with 2 brackets of death, where other brackets have it way easier. I do like having no invites, and...
I don't mean to repeat myself, because I asked this question in my last post on this thread, but I think it bears repeating because there appears to be at least somewhat of an overall sentiment that people would like to see actual tournament discussion in tournament threads. Are there mods on...
Unpopular opinion, as I know AOEZone loves its drama, but I'd really like to see some actual discussion about tournaments on the topics designed for them and not have them dissolve into the exact same arguments about who does or doesn't like certain casters players etc. I swear you could copy...
Interesting, good info. I'm guessing some of this does come down to how big the event is, and how aggressive the host organization is in terms of trying to prevent this. For something like The Game Awards that just happened, everyone was doing a watch party, so I'd assume they must have said...
I'd imagine its only against TOS if you rebroadcast it, with no additional content on top essentially acting as if it is your own original content. If you are there watching and reacting to it I'd assume that is under fair use just like much Youtube content is other people reacting to...
Right, a watch party is you watching the main stream (or sometimes multiple player streams depending on the event) with your audience, so obviously you wouldn't control the point of view of the game. This is very very common in almost every other game/esport etc.
I just don't understand the...
I'm not sure I understand this. What does size of following have to do with it? If someone with 50 viewers can have a watch party, T90 should be able to as well. I guess sure, even if there is no 'official' enforceable penalty, it might mean that the organize is less likely to work with that...
I'm assuming the details are elsewhere but can someone clarify to me what is meant when we say that the main event is 'closed' streaming? I'm assuming they can't actually stop streamers from pulling up the main broadcast on their stream and having a 'watch party', correct? Does closed...
What about adding a horse (as opposed to a second scout) or something like that to help the scouting situation. Its a lot of fun for the viewer to see how much some of the high level players can do with 2 starting scouting options. If it hasn't been experimented with yet, I think it'd be a fun...
If I understand correctly it was something added rather late, because initially (I believe for both AOE2 and AOE4) the group stage was single elimination. Only after being told that was kind of crazy did they expand the group stage, thus adding more games and requiring the B stream.
I would...
Re: viewer numbers, people have to remember the HC max numbers are heavily boosted by twitch front page, which is now somewhere in the area of an instant 15-25k boost. At the time of HC I think it was closer to a 20-30k boost too. I could be wrong, but to my knowledge this event did not have...
I've got to say, I don't think this is unfair criticism by any means. I've seen plenty of praise for all the parts of the tournament that have gone well, and also fairly tame feedback for the one part that hasn't. I don't think anybody thinks that the production crew did this with any negative...
Everything is absolutely amazing about this tournament except it being so rushed/compact because of the organizer trying to fit 2 or 3 full tournaments into the time and space of 1. Group stage just felt very rushed. Bo3s, half of them not even cast on the main channel so its tough to watch...
