I was thinking about making the UT "Marinha" a part of their starting bonuses so their fishing ships would get a boost, but there are 5 bonuses already and they are too great to take away. Plus, Marinha is good as a Castle UT. Basically, the portuguese may have no bonuses on the dark age... like...
Alright, I see that there are a lot of suggestions and things to be said so i'll start here..
I like your suggestions a lot fireboy, but still, I stand beside what I originally said in my post. There are some things that are still uncertain, of course, but I like the ideas present there more...
Excellent point. I'll think about how to make it more unique, as an unique unit should be (a good option may be increasing the bonus against archers, or making it slightly cheaper OR make it have a bonus against skirmishers too  )! Feel free to make suggestions!
Edit: I made a couple...
This is totally off topic but just now I played a single player game with the music on (normally i play with the music off) and was totally blown away when I heard AoE1 music playing. I seriously cannot express how awesome and nostalgic that was!!! :D

So you're saying that even if someone handed you all the details about a civ, together with unit designs you wouldn't take it? Or do you prefer to wait a bit and see if the game is balanced and only then add a new civ?
Hey, Cysion said once that the main problem about new civs is the lack of unit designs and that if people gave him the finished designs a new civ would have a much better chance of existing. I may try to learn how to work with these programs so the portuguese have more chance of appearing in the...
