But let's not throw ideas like "walls have twice as much HP for the same cost on DE" without doing due diligence and checking numbers first.
I simply didn’t get the point of starting a discussion about walls (which is absolutely legit) and just mixing in random rants about Arena or the players enjoying the map. Once again, your numbers are wrong, but overall I’d agree with you that AoE would be more enjoyable with less walls on open maps. It would also be more unfair though as map generation will be more important, that is a reason why major wall nerf won’t happen.Starting on a map where your stoned walled in is a custom scenario map to me. I think you make a good critique though as of course adding this shows subjectivity and sours the taste of my logic in the mouths of many who adore arena. Its just so painfully obvious though after seeing how the game was re balanced. I do think there are lots of players who started in arena that have reached a good level and understanding of the game though, to start there is fine aslong as you know its a map designed to cut out 2.5 ages of the game.

I think you shouldnt forget that command queue made walling a lot easier.
On voobly it was actually taking some attention to wall because you need more clicks and you need to remember that the vill is there idle in the end.

Imagine if they buff houses by making them give you hundreds more hp if you convert the extra wood to palisade (+still getting the house structure as a wall part) and then everyone looks at you like a sinner for rounding numbers. 111111 its quite tragic but when the kids start getting strikes riding bumpers they become so detached from the feeling of truth they don't even know what it is.Imagine having huns as your favourite civ and wanting to nerf houses...

Instead of suffering DE they can just go back to HD/AoC/Voobly. To be honest his idea sounds really good. This would stop "Hey I have palisade walls.
