i love that memb is now using capturage. to me it just looks better. but the positioning on the bars on top was a bit off to me. shouldnt they be touching the edge of the screen? they were a bot too low imo.
2 important questions before tomorrow sets:
(1) Who of Hera/Tatoh will lose in order to potentially end up in the lower bracket of the tournament and not meet the future winner before the final
(2) Will Viper decide to mess with the bracket and lose on purpose
No, they're live since last week.Aren't the games already played?
Hera already denying any intent to do so. Its unfortunate, the winner matches should maybe be all in one day to avoid any accusation and drama for bracket picking.I don't think any top player will lose on purpose but I think the unexpected outcome of yesterday's matches will incentivize the players to take more risks today and maybe hide their strategies for the later rounds
On the other hand, the finals will have its own day, so it should not be longer than 4 BO5s. And NAC3 finals were BO11 also and it was a great series.Wait what QF is BO5, SF is BO7 and then Finals is suddenly a BO11? LUL
There seems some inconsistency in thought there.
QFs can be Bo5/BO7 in my opinion but Final should not be more than BO9. Kotd1 and Kotd2 finals were really epic and they were both BO9 I think.
Really, please don't keep the final that long, nobody will have that much patience. I think many people like me would end up missing the last few games because it would inevitably be 2 am by then and people have to go to work on Monday.

I mean ofc I rather criticize any situation where that a true loss by Hera can be interpreted by bracket picking. Not saying that Hera is lying, but who on earth would confess it openly if they wanted to throw/bracket pick? If they're wily enough to try bracket picking, they'd usually be wily enough to deny it.
I personally like to think that Hera and TaToH are upstanding gents who'll give it a good sporting go, if perhaps playing a bit riskier and looser than usual (and maybe being more willing to GG early). I also think not facing Vivi for a decider match is a least a bit of a perk.
That said, as long as Hera and TaToH are on the same wavelength, it should be competitive - it's just a matter of whether it's a competition to win or a competition to throw as subtly as possible. The only anti-competitive match will be if one of them plays to win and the other wants to throw.
On the other hand, the finals will have its own day, so it should not be longer than 4 BO5s. And NAC3 finals were BO11 also and it was a great series.
Totally agree. I hadn't watched Moonfaller's stream in a while but I gotta say he has really developed as a caster. Sometimes both of them have to step back a bit more and don't interrupt each other (but also don't have long monologues to allow the other to talk) but apart from that the two worked really well together. So hyped for this tournament since last night. The games were out of this world in their competitiveness, ingenuity and excitement. Two matchups having players be 2-0 down and then make it to the 5th game shows how interesting and competitive the map, settings and players have been. And wow, memb and moon, what a casting duo! I've followed both of them for awhile, but was skeptical about them casting together. But they were on fire! Preps to memb for broadening my horizons.
He said that the PkZ overlay has had issues since the latest patch - e.g. it started flashing and wouldn't stop anymore, vills killed stats don't work properly - therefore he got in contact with the CA guys.Btw, why the sudden change to CaptureAge? I thought it was just Tristan who could use it since I hadn't seen memb use it before. Don't get me wrong, I much prefer it, just that I haven't seen any explanation for why Memb's using it now.
If no more upsets (or intentionally losing, which I hope the nice players of AoE2 to have the sportsmanship to not do it, but I understand it's big money on the line too...), we could have an upper bracket with TheViper vs Yo, Hera vs Lierrey
This is insane D:

All in all, adjectives don't do this tournament justice. You are crazy for pulling this one off, @MembTV (and of course, those behind the scenes as well)!

Comon Yo lost 3-2 against Mbl there is nothing disappointing except your expectations. MbL Yo went 6/0 for MbL in the last year. It is just your expectations brought back to reality. Yo was clapped in showmatches after RBW directly again and lost in Arabia Invitational to Lierrey 3-0 and so on. Dont overestimate his performance in RBW and the silly wall less showmatch. For an arabia only tournament it might be mbl seed 4 and yo seed 5 to be properly representing their strenght but still very close coin toss in either case.Actually had the opposite reaction to the games yesterday. I was disappointed with the performance of two players I thought had a legit chance to win the tournament (Lierey and Yo). Don’t get me wrong, not saying MBL and DauT aren’t great, but I don’t consider them serious threats to Viper so yesterday was a bit of a disappointment for me in that regard. I expected a lot more; especially from Larry.

Fwiw I’ve always had a high opinion of DauT. I predicted him to beat Nicov 3-1 and think he’s top-8. But I personally don’t think he’s on the same level as the top-3/4 playersAll these players constantly lose against each other. I don't think the differences in skill between the top 10 are that big. Nothing out of the extraordinary in Daut beating Liery or Mbl beating Yo.
The case of Daut deserves a special mention. All the memes about lack of micro and Daut castles are affecting people's heads. He's nothing like some people make him out to be, he's strong AF, he has always been.
