Hello guys, I wanted to make a post about my experience with this tournament, since there was a lot of drama about me not casting in English. Something that wasn`t in my control.
First of all I want to say thank you to Red Bull to put their eyes on this fantastic game. As about the tournament, it was something new and definitely refreshing. As an experienced caster and player here is what I can say about the tournament itself.
- Empires War, was much better than I expected. But it is important to remember reason for that is with less practice and not knowing the meta the games were more interesting and matches were unpredictable. While if it was played for a longer period, the gameplay would be getting closer to the actual meta.
- I really think that maps were also key factor to get those aggressive games. Even more than the game mode itself. I remember many land madness games being similar to what we saw in this tournament. Also maps like atzlan (if that is correct) give options to have crazy games, too. That is why I think the combination of this mode with aggressive and unique maps gave us so many exciting games.
- Time limit makes sense because the tournament format and schedule were tight and may be had to be there. The problem is we know what gives score and how much while it doesn`t really translate in actual game advantage for the player who has higher score. I would never put time limit as something standard, since with more practice in maps and mode, the defensive gameplay would be there more and more and the time limit rule can be exploited.
- Casting experience. As you well know I always cast in English and I hope I can keep doing it. I wish it is not the norm that I am left out of big events. Honestly I think I could bring a lot in this kind of scenarios since I have proved already that working in duos is something that I can do pretty well. Also English is the main language I normally stream. Having said that, I loved the opportunity to cast in my native language. Getting almost 3k viewers during the Final when there is a 160k subscribers youtube monster streaming at same time was something really unexpected and felt good. Not only because when you get good viewers you feel good and you feel the recognition, but also because you see people are getting interested in the game more and more.
I want to say thanks to everyone that made this possible, and also thanks to all co casters that casted with me. I invited basically everyone that I know from the Spanish speaking community with only 2 that could not come for different reasons. Big thanks to Perotti, Locoser, Silenttv, Nicov and TaToH for joining me during the event.
Now let`s keep the party rolling and let`s make BOA2 even more fun, because guys - We love this game.
