The signup for 1v1 is about to close (this evening at 24GMT).
So far 61 players have signed up, of which 45 in the low Pool, and 16 in the High Pool. See here for a full list of the participants
I will make brackets this weekend. Becaue of the large interest for the Low bracket I unfortunately have to draw players from the signup pool. Only 32 spots are available for the Low bracket.
The high bracket still has plenty of spots. (you can move over to the higher bracket if you are in low)
The brackets will appear here for Low and High
You will have to play the matches of RO32 in the next week: 30april to 6 may. Post in this thread to schedule your matches.
Important technical information:
- make sure you have latest version of WololoKingdom installed:
- download the newest version of the map (download here) and put it in the right folder. Your path should look something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\Voobly Mods\AOC\Data Mods\WololoKingdoms\Script.Rm
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires11\Voobly Mods\AOC\Data Mods\WololoKingdoms\Script.Rm
- Please make sure you play the tournament matches on the REDv1 map, and not the REDv0 test-map.
- Make sure to have all the right settings selected for your games. You can find the settings here .
- There still is a small chance that the game crashes upon starting, in that case don't panic and restart.
GameModes
Some gamemodes are included in the map script. they can be combined with other gamemodes. There is a random chance that any gamemode is true. The gamemodes can be pretty new to you, so here I will explain it briefly.
Monumental Middle
In the middle you will find a gaia monument, which can switch ownership (have units nearby to contol it). The monument can be used to train units. These units can be usefull but are sometimes very expensive. Also the creation time for these units is often very long. If a unit was in progress of being created, and the monument switches ownership, the unit is cancelled and the resources are refunded.
King game (Regicide)
You start with a king (or in some cases multiple). Protect your kings, because if you have none left you are defeated. When this gamemode is active you will start with 7 extra villagers, the king, and often a castle or a tower to hide in. Once in Imperial age the research Treason will also be available: for 400 gold you briefly see the location of the enemy king (note: only 1 king will be revealed in case there are multiple)
Sudden Death
Protect your Town Centers, because if you have none left you are defeated. You can quickly see when this gamemode is active from the 4 flags that spawn next your your town center(s). Also realise that it is impossible to rebuild new towncenters!
Other game-play tips
- Always scout around the map to see important terrains (is there water? are there any large woodlines? Where are the resources?)
- Scout around the map to find convertable gaia units. They will not always spawn, and they will not always be very usefull
- Hide your king safely in a Tower, Castle or TownCenter
- At the start pay attention on your resources and popspace. you might need to build extra houses if you spawned with many units. Also you can have different starting resources as what you are used to, maybe you want to advance to feudal age early, or you can already start adding army.
- If you did not start with a TownCenter you need to build one. In some cases you can afford one right away (Nomad start), in other instances you need to build a lumbercamp to get enough wood to build it (Land Nomad start)
- Some games can be decided in the Early game. Make sure your villagers are safe from harasment of enemy hero units (don't venture to far or wall in your villagers) and consider researching Loom early.
- Recognize when you have a bad map and look for ways to make the best of it (Since there will not be any re's handed out for this tournament)
Good Luck, and Have fun!
