To me, cutting more than half of the teams who signed up for the qualifiers sends a really bad message. Are we actually trying to grow the community and allow players to improve in competitive team game settings or are we just trying to get another Finland/Tempo/GL/WWP final? I mean, the games are competitive but the players don’t really seem to practice and prepare, leading to a stale/1v1 centric approach, which isn’t always the best way to approach these different maps.We understand that you being upset about not being able to play, and we are sorry about it.
We also would have much preferred to have larger qualifiers, but the timeframe that was available does restrict us very heavily. With RB5 on the horizon, and events like All In Cup happening, it was not possible to expand the event in length.
The only way multiple rounds of qualifiers would have been possible is if we reduce the amount of time players have to play each round. Based on our experience, that could have caused problems.
We are also very delighted to see so many excellent players signing up, and wish we could do more to give them a shot at playing the event. Unfortunately, we are confined by surrounding events. We certainly hope that in the future, we can provide a chance for more teams to play in these events, but for this one - due to time constraints - multiple rounds of qualifiers were not possible.
