Seems like the aussie GP has been cancelled this morning fortunately. I love that GP though.

They cancelled it the night before - so apparently there were still crowds lining up the next morning. Not the best way to handle it. Real shame it had to be called off but it was the right move.

As an update, one of the most important politicians in the country has been infected, and he happened to be in cabinet meetings - about coronavirus - with basically every important person in the government, including our prime minister. So maybe now they'll take it seriously.

Aussies are so tough they only need 24 hours instead of 2 weeks for quarantine.

Ive read weeks ago, when the disease was still starting in Wuhan, that the Chinese gov was actually hiding the information that the COVID-19 was spreading very fast and killing a lot of elderly people !
When the info was dealt as a serious matter it was already too late and it had infected people from other countries...

Damn! I hope they find a cure soon, but it will still take some times to go for testing and released to the public.

My situation is chilled and relaxed. I am in a small town with 20k inhabitants. nothing to worry about. I bought food for est 1 week. I think most of us will get infected at one point with this. It may sound cruel but we are anyways too many people on this planet. thats why such things spread so damn fast with the airplanes etc. I am not aainst it, but every pro always has it con. Everybody knew it nobody believed it or hope it wont happen. we should all be happy that it is not really deadly. if we suffer from it at least here in middle europe we will get best medical help. I am young i have no diseases and thats why I am not really scared. Obviously i understand the reasons for the pretty harsh actions and i support them. I already declared to my grandma I wont visit her on her birthday and I wont visit my family till the curve is getting more stable

In Finland we are no longer testing possible cases unless they need medical support. Just putting into context with people in some other countries moaning for quick tests. At least you guys can get into some tests, right?

Also schools are open, -500 people gathering still allowed, no restrictions in movement. Yesterday was our worst day yet, over 90% increase in cases, today 50% increase. Lots of critisism from media and opposition towards Government.

In Canada, Ontario, things are escalating in the last 24h, as the PM's wife got infected people seem to get to realize that's real treat. Schools are closed and Costco has lengthy queues. I will update tomorrow as I think situation will develop through the day

Switzerland just basally cancelled Schengen and banned all gatherings of over 100 people... I don't know what closing the borders should accomplish when the virus is already here.

At least it reduces travelling since public transports are good infection spreaders, especially airplanes because there is very minimum air change in those. Go outside as little as you possible can should be the guideline. The virus is already with us but we can minimize the peak of cases by keeping interactions at limit - both cross-border and inside-border.

In UK, our strategy now is to delay, hopefully till the warmer weather, so as not to strain the health care beyond its limits. There is acceptance that majority of the population will be infected. If the peak incidence can be lowered and stretched out as long as possible, mortality can be reduced. Once the virus had swept over, the survivors will develop immunity, so called herds immunity, then infectivity will come down. So every effort to delay the spread helps.

If there is only 1 ventilator available and 2 covid19 patients needing it, both can be treated if they get infected one after another. However, the intensivists will have to decide which one to intubate if they both get infected at the same time.

UK is not as mad in tracing the disease as S Korea, and emphasise more on self quarantine. If you get tested negative, you may be falsely reassured by a false negative tested too early. A negative test for people needing isolation would still mean full 14 day quarantine.

Lots of UK cases with the typical presentation (Fever, dry cough, bilateral interstitial infiltrates) aren't actually getting tested. It's dramatically more prevalent here than the 'official' figures show.

On the plus side my upcoming clinical examination got cancelled.

As well, it's not been reported so widely yet but if the infection goes beyond the upper respiratory tract to your lungs, even in those who recover there is significant scarring of lung tissue - people are being left with lifelong respiratory problems which will cause shortness of breath, increased susceptibility to infection and reduce lifespan in some cases. This is a really nasty, atypical viral pneumonia if you get it, even if you survive. You have to really hope that the infection stays in your upper respiratory tract.
