Why since all this time there was no nation cup

Hello why no nation cup ? for me it was the best tournament of all time, all legends would come back for play it etc even if ur country sux, like i played nation cup with noob french team and was so happy to play it and all was so hype and i would be happy to see countrymate training for that

i heard argument/opinions that its becuz there would be no viewer coz some top player would have no team

do u guys follow twitch beside aoe ?? have u seen the reddit pixel war, between french/spain/usa etc, ?? french stream got 400k viewer watching streamer put a pixel on a map, and others ocuntry has a lot viewer too

im sure a nation cup could be biiiig, all ur country watching etc, is not like in past where ppl didnt know about twithc etc

And 2v2 is really different than a real nation cup where is mainly tg but can have some 1v1 2v2 etc on it too


im not even hyped by a 2v2 nc tournament its déjà vu, idk how say but well u wanna see the superstar from country carry their mate etc in pure TG, 2v2 = more elitist, its less fun

There were no 4v4 tournaments since alot of people from certain regions don't have a good enough pc to handle late game which would turn the game into a laggfest. A bit of a shame though but that's the reality.

That is one of the main 2 points I think.
The other one is that there was no sponsor. The last 3 were sponsored by SY, but SY no longer sponsored tournaments.
A $5k-$10k 4v4 Nations Cup would not feel right. And bigger budgets can only be organised by maybe 3 individual hosts.

Nacho had his 2v2 World Cup in 2018 and the follow-up with T90 in 2020, but as you said, 2v2 is really different from 4v4. And I hosted the 2020 AOElympics ($7k prize pool).

A third point is that Nations Cups used to last a long time and the tournament scene has shifted a bit.
S tier tournaments no longer last 4 months, but mostly only 2-5 weeks, which would be even harder for 4v4, because scheduling and organisation of 4v4s is much harder.

Lastly, I think a lot of people still want it, even with the problems, but we need either a big sponsor to initiate it or a big host who can get a big sponsor to really want it.

If the rumors are correct, and the new DLC does introduce a new "low resolution" mode, this maybe could change things for a lot of folks!

There would certainly be a lot of viewers, T90's WC also got a tons of views on youtube with the finals China vs Norway having 760k+ Views, or 2018 Finland vs China 2vs2 World Cup having 960k+ Views.

Imo Nation-based Tournaments are just less interesting then normal Tournaments because not only do Nation-based Tournaments "exclude" Players because they were unlucky, it also creates unnecessary drama about who is allowed to play for which country.

I think Robo tried to organize a Nations Cup or posted atleast smth. on aoezone once, but this was several years ago if I remember correctly.

You can already scale down the resolution with a tool greg made, but it's better if it's in game

Also the performance is a rollercoaster anyway, gets randomly better or worse every patch depending on hardware. For me I could play 2v2 fine about a year after release, now struggle with 1v1 on lower settings and with better hardware... Very frustrating to say the least

I personally don't know how bad it is as I only play very rarely and then don't check where people are from, but I don't think people just claim it without having experienced issues. Maybe it is good enough for many people, but there are definitely people who struggle with 4v4 and Capture Age also has problems with 8 players in late game for some casters.
It should not stop a Nations Cup, but maybe it does demotivate some people.

Both robo and I at some point thought we would manage to get a NC in 2020, and we both wanted to be involved, but it did not happen, and I did not talk about it since summer 2020. Admins and players would be there, casters and viewers too, since many people love national tournaments.
I don't think it will happen in 2022, but maybe for next year a proposal for Nili could be written, if a big caster backs it.

Also if a NC started today France would win and that's lame... lets wait till an actually strong country that already won the NC like Brazil or China gets good again!

Probably a bit of both. Games still lag quite a bit in CS in 4v4's. I think it has more to do with scheduling headaches and admin issues.

That is true but in the first year and a half there were severe performance issues which meant no 4v4 tournaments. Now it's alot less of a problem than what it used to be
