Who will win the 2023 Nations Cup?

With most of the top teams having registered already, let's start some polls and predictions.

Option 1-19 are teams that are seed 1-19 when this topic was posted. Teams might stil change their roster.
Austria A, China B, Spain A, Russia A and Canada A are teams that did not register yet, so who will be in them is not known yet.

An updated poll will be done when the qualifier is over. But it's still so long until then...

As the voting results already suggest, Finland should be the clear favorite.

The addition of Valas makes them even stronger in comparison to Suomi at BoA3.

After getting 3rd and 2nd in the last two NCs it would fit in nicely to get the gold medal this time

average RM1V1 strength of the three teams is the strongest,Even the fourth player is an expert player with super high level .what's more they often play various TG ，So the champion must come from these three teams

althouth I hope ChinaA win the tournament but I think FinlandA has a better chance

TOP6 teams​

France-A，Vietnam-A，Garmany-A

These three teams are bound to be the TOP8, and have a great chance to enter the TOP4, but they are unable to compete for the championship or beat any champion teams

Those teams are Similar to champion teams , it is a weakened version of the champion teams with relatively high average RM1V1 scores and often play TG together

Among them, I am most optimistic about FranceA entering the top4

TOP10 teams​

Argentina A, USA A, Russia A, Brazil B, Norway A

Those teams are at least two top or expert-level players (Vinchester&Dark, Viper&MBL, Fire&Alive, Daniel&Hasan, Nicov&Fedex), it is still difficult to compete with the above teams, Maybe can win 1-2 game by virtue of the excellent performance by top players or super smart tactics

But the more likely scenario is that half of the standoff and half of the collapse, and then quickly enter the situation of 2V3 or even 2V4.

My understanding of 4v4 is that the ability of the 3rd＆4th member is more decisive, because it determines integrity of the team and occupy the area of the map.

• There seem to many candidates for a top 8 spot, besides the ones you already listed also Chile A, Poland A, Turkey A, Argentina B and potentially China B, Canada A and Spain A if they sign up. Mexico also has many good players but they seem to be split between teams.

Yes, I need to change my prediction. I just glanced at the list of applicants and unconsciously included Jordan. Jordan+nili+running will be a strong team.

I think there was some official statement from him, but as I don't know the source, I won't share anything I am not 100 % sure about.
What I hope and can imagine though is that some of JorDan, Hera, ACCM and Liereyy will be more interested if the tournament reaches a higher prize pool before the registration deadline. But now the last 10 days the donations have slowed down, so no idea whether we will reach $20k until then.

I don't really think Brazil A has championship potential tbh. Bruh is not in top shape and FeAge is just too far away from the top imo. Admittedly though I wouldn't have thought that Brazil B wins NC2017 either so let's see.

Besides, I don't see USA A as a candidate for Top 8. Daniel is way stronger in 1v1 than in TGs - overall I don't really think they have the best team players.
As for Germany I think they can do really well and better than many expect. Despite being more of a 1v1 player, I think Running in top shape combined with TG expert Annotoph and multiple TG-focused players can form a very strong team. Not sure whether it's really enough to contest top 4 but top 8 should be possible.

I actually don't think Valas is as much of an asset to Finland as his 1v1 results or even his performance alongside the Amigos would suggest. There was a showmatch between Suomi and GL a while back where Valas didn't seem to mesh with Max and Villese particularly well and they got crushed. I think China's the heavy favorite for this one if it's 4v4.

ACCM as far as we know currently also has other reasons. But it could still be if he was likely to make $200 instead of $100, it would be more reasonable to invest the time and participate. We also have to consider that if you are a team of 6, the prize money per player currently is similar to a $1000-1500 B tier 1v1 tournament.

I hope the 'ruining other players chances to win anything' is meant as a joke, because I cannot for the life of me figure out how this is something bad.

The guy joins a lot of small tournaments, giving people the chance to play against a pro, making tournaments more interesting, etc.. it's highly commendable to not just go for the big bucks. As long as he isn't making Smurf accounts to illegally enter low elo tournaments this should be commended, not condemned.

On topic: Finland easy, but China hopefully can make it interesting.

I really hope somehow Microsoft finds their money bag to give some price money. It's a shame that a tournament has to be hosted by one of the big names with the direct telephone number to MS to immediately receive 100k that will anyways go to the same five players again, but a tournament like this which involves hundreds of players and probably tons of training and dedication gets shafted because some run of the mill 1v1 needs 100k price pool instead of 80k.....

i just said that for ACCM the "NC has not enough money" argument is not working since he is playing all kinda all other small tournaments.

and for the chances of winning something of course he is not letting other people do it if he as a 25++ even plays small 100$ tournaments. in tennis for example the pros like Nadal, Federer etc. arent playing the smaller tournaments as well It is mostly like there should be tournaments for all levels, so that for each tournament various of players could theoretically win it, since the level is kinda equal. If someone way better than all other joins these tournaments, this is not the case anymore. Like you cant play TTL Platinum and silver league.

i am not saying ACCM is a bad guy at all, i really like him and he is super friendly. Still this overjoining small tournaments results in less players having the chance to win anything and focusing more on the game. Same like invite only tournaments

I am honestly a bit disappointed that some top players are not signing up, although their nations are really strong and could have a chance of making top4 (or even better) if the best signed up.

On the other hand, i want to applaude Daut, Viper, Mbl, who sign up even though their teams are maybe too weak for a top placement
