Well if Viper plans to train even some for aoe4 I doubt he can compete with hera or liereyy(assuming that rumours are true and he is already training). Hera grinds probably most of the all, he sometimes underperforms in tournaments, also LAN is bit different, but I think Hera going to take this one. Also would be quite good, as he didn't win a single RBW yet, so bigger distribution on titles is good

Hera went to Argentina just few weeks before the event and got sick there. Not sure how serious the preparation could be under the circumstances. Shame, he deserves a good result.

Hard to tell because one can't know how hard they are training. A 200k tourney is a game changer, so we should expect more than one player playing way better than they ever did. It seems like guys like Villese or ACCM are training like mad, while others believe some days before tourney is enough. Idk, maybe the way they train work different for each player, but Jordan training for HC4 indicates how hard extreme training can change things. My letdown bet is Liereyy.

Viper winning would still be the least surprising. Viper winning is the default in Aoe2 history

My odds (assuming 10% margin for bookie):
- Viper $3 - primary focus will be AOE2 and he looks in top form, is the complete player
- Hera $3.30 - has huge motivation having never won before, no distractions should be at absolute best
- Lierrey $5.30 - looks rusty and not as focused on AOE2 as other top players but if we know he is 100% focused then of course this changes and he probably becomes at least joint favorite with Viper, I assume he will at least be practicing enough to be contender even if not at his absolute best
- Yo $6.40 - probably best 1v1 tournament performer this year (2 S-tiers and 3 A-tiers I think), may die early to other big 4 simply due to mechanics / APM sometimes but often can offset with strategy and I think he's the best late game player, unfortunately often not relevant in Empire Wars
- Vinch $30 - best suited to Empire Wars outside of Top 4, watching him beat Yo and Lierrey back to back in KOTD4 makes you think he's the closest to being there
- Tatoh $45 - always looks solid, feels capable of winning a 1v1 S-Tier (I don't recall him winning one?)
- Daut $45 - I can't imagine it, but I couldn't imagine it last time either, lol
- Villese $60 - probably influenced by him beating Viper in RBW3
- Mbl $80 -
- ACCM $90
- Jordan $90
- Sitaux $100
- Nicov $150
- Daniel $300
- Capoch $300
- Valas $400

I have a big gap between the Top 4 and the rest because tournament after tournament shows, very rarely are S-Tier tournaments are won by anyone else, since DE I can only think of Daut's Red Bull and the Titans League. It kind of makes sense because if you're not Top 4, usually you have to beat 3 of the "Top 4" to win (assuming one is in each quarter final), most of the guys here can beat 1, or maybe 2 on a great run but beating 3 Top 4 players in a row is incredibly difficult.

Beyond the obvious contenders like Yo, Viper, Hera and Lierrey, I feel like there is so much room for "surprises" this time (tho not really surprises).
Like, Villese for example has been performing great, he got to so many important finals recently. The same could be said for ACCM and Vinch, and I would also give Nicov some decent odds among them.
And then you have the rest with many consagrated names like Jordan, Tatoh, Daut, MBL.

I really like this feeling that it could really go to anyone.

My bet goes to Yo, on a final against Viper/Hera, but I would be totally happy with something like a Villese vs ACCM final o something like that.

No way Viper takes this one. Hera was the one who pushed Liereyy the most in all the RBWs, excepting the first. I don't think anyone is as motivated as he is, or has a bigger point to prove. It feels like he is a very different beast when he is tryharding.

I totally agree that Viper could have lost the final vs Liereyy and I don't see him winning it again. I think this is also why Viper practices for age4; if he goes 100% age2, there is no guarantee of victory. Monetarily speaking it is better for him do well in both games than win either.

I'd love MrYo, Jordan, or Tatoh to win it, but I don't think it will happen.

TheViper has shown time and time again that he is ruthless when he is in the Zone. His classic "Imma Kill you, poker face". Watch NAC2 semis vs Liereyy or HC3 Finals for instance. He destroyed both Liereyy and Hera in dark age.

However, Empire Wars being Feudal age start makes it different. I also think TheViper is the kind of player who can put tremendous amounts of pressures (I remember a Redbull game of him vs Hera on Haboob where he was Bulgarians and went MAA scouts, ranges, all 3 unit types immediately). I feel like this is the level TheViper can pull if he wants to kill someone right at the start, but it also has brought him in very risky situations where opponent's greed could have lost him everything (Redbull 5 Finals, Viper went full feudal from the get-go on Land Madness and Liereyy simply defended with enough skirms-spears, and I shite you not every person watching in the Castle thought he was gonna die to Liereyy's castle age timing).

So by no means do I see TheViper even with 90% focus (assuming 10% goes to AoeIV) losing to anyone out of the top 4. Going through the list and assuming the most likely contenders out of the top 4, if he has that look on his face, he will destroy Nicov, ACCM, Villese even, Vinchester. He has had Daut and Jordan's number for the longest of times, similar playstyle and one player is simply the better executioner, multitasker and better mechanically. Tatoh has more chances from GL vs him, but even Tatoh who was playing amazing in NAC2 got absolutely ridiculed in the Grand Finals, wasn't even close. MBL used to have Viper's number in 2018-19 but nowadays I do not believe he can even come close to Viper's level. Any other non-top 4 player has even lower chances vs TheViper.

So brings us to the point, who will TheViper lose to if he isn't fully focused. My bet would be Yo or Hera if he faces them in the semis, and I think Liereyy takes it in the finals vs TheViper. If Viper - Liereyy face in the semis, that's probably going to be a bigger set than the finals, the winner of that most likely wins the finals too. And as for Liereyy, I don't see him losing to Yo, maybe Hera in a BO5 (but Hera couldn't get past MBL in RBW5 so not sure), only one who can contend him is TheViper who will need 100% of his focus
