I don't know if it's really wakko but its behavior isn't right being a 2k player, I know the toxicity of the community is low but players known for their level should be an example of how to eliminate such toxicity

I hope he's not the smurf of wakko as I consider him a Chilean player with good potential

not only does he enjoy killing newbies like me, but he still has the brazen of mocking

It's not Steam. Steam allows for family sharing, which is good - there are plenty of games I own that my girlfriend might want to play but doesn't own, and vice versa. Family sharing lets you do that. It's up to the developers of any individual game to handle how their specific game handles it.

Additionally, while smurf accounts are annoying, they're only really a problem if the smurf intentionally tanks their elo. I've seen players do this on their main account anyway, so, yeah. Trash people will be trash people no matter what.

One easy reason I can think of: you look/feel better.

Compared to players of your own rank you are equal, compared to better players you suck, but compare yourself to worse players (be it lower skill or lower experience) and you seem to be an exceptionally amazing wizard of a player. While playing aoe2, you may have become a lot better than when you started, but it's not always easy to understand how much better, because the rank system makes sure you keep playing vs equally skilled opponents. Making each game about as difficult as the first.

I actually had it recently irl while doing my sports. A new girl was added to the group and she flailed about like a little duckling. First I thought "what's wrong with her", then I realized I was just a lot better because of my experience. Then I felt good about how good I had become.

Who doesn't like to feel super special awesome every now and then?

Other reasons out of the top of my head:
- So you can play with friends that are way lower rated than you;
- To avoid being noticed if you have a high profile main account (some wellknown community members may prefer to play with an unknown account so they don't attract attention while playing);
- To just have some fun using unorthodox strats (FI militia, dark age only, you name it);

I'm rewording what I write before. I can't thing of a reason that's not pitiful for smurfing (except, of course, if you're a well know player and want to play under the radar).

But if you want to play chese strats play with your main acount. I'm 1300 elo. I'm not going only vils with supremacy against a 800 elo player. surely I'm gonna win. If you want to feel good, just win against someone your level, using whatever strat you feel like. and Ifyou lose, you lose.

I see it as a way to reinforce fragile confidence. But hey, it's just my opinion.

I feel like this is some sort of Dunning-Kruger effect... You're only finding yourself good when you don't know better and lack examples of people who are truly good to compare yourself with.

You'd need to play on a smurf all the time to forget that at your level you're just one amongst many.

Yes, that happened to me before. But for me it's only worth when I'm messuring my progrees, or when I compare myself against someone in the same skill level/status/category.
For example, I play guitar. I'm not proud when I can play a Ramones song better than a 14 y. old, but gosh it feels good when I play some classical stuff or some more complicated piece.

what I mean is that, for me, If I don't respect my opponent skill, then there's no pleasure/joy in defeating him/her.

My GF is playing AoE, but since she doesn't play online, we manage with only 1 license. So please, don't do that 11

In your example you are just witnessing struggle; a better analogy is a black belt entering a lesser rank competition or some equivalent. Smurfs are bullying lesser players for their own enjoyment. And perhaps you are not great at whatever thing, and they are just incompetent 11.
