You can't devide the queue further because of the small playerbase, otherwise the waiting time will be the biggest downgrade of this game, as well as civ banning. Banning nearly all maps or civs will result in the opposite of fun.Arabia queue or if not, the following option:

Also in the case of Cup I think it would be fair to say it's basically redundant with Golden Swamp; maybe spicing up the generation of Golden Swamp to have more irregularity or randomness to the generation of the middle area and island could be a way to achieve a compromise.slopes/cup/bay (HC3 maps)

Yes but they should fix the **** balance rather than banning iconic high skillcap maps like Islands and (hybrid) Nomad.Imo with the current balance maps with one or two completely dominant civs (Islands / Nomad / Land Madness) should not be included in the 1v1 map pool.
Yes, Arabia is possibly hurt more than any other map in the map pool from the residentSleeper quickwalling meta that we are currently suffering through watching in professional play.Arabia rn, its really different from Aoc walling its more easier now.
This was the big drawback of Voobly and the reason why i really liked the map pool and MM system at DE. It would solve the issues. I dont wanna be stuck with 4v4 BF games, but Arabia is too hard to get into if you used to play BF. I also get bored of playing just one map only. Nomad and Arena are also an option too. Other maps where pretty rare at voobly.I always found Voobly being so elitist in this aspect, people noobs were forced to get good only at Arabia, because in RM people only play that map. And once you were kicked from NPL for having too many games you were absolutely screwed. And then these people ended playing 4vs4 BF for the rest of their lives.

Vikings had a 42% winrate on islands last patch Italians where at 57%. https://aoestats.io/map/islands/RM_1v1/1650+(2) Vikings would probably still be fine due to free wheelbarrow / handcart, but Im afaid no one would ever pick Italians if they got nerfed on water.
