What are some good sets to watch? I've been meaning to watch some qualifiersI know MoA VI is not considered in this pool, but I personally think it deserves to be here. Some of the games played were already epic, Clown Arena is the best map ever made imho and I am sure it will only get better.
ECL will always be the best AoE tournament for me, because of the unique settings. It had its flaws, most notably with the drama of live vs. recorded games (the hype died a bit for me, when everbody could cast games live and spoil to me), but I just love the geografical stages and the LAN grand finals.
Honorable mention goes to MoA VI (as mentioned above) and to the last Nac.
Read the initial postKoTDs always brings most hype for me because Arabia is de facto default map for aoe and thus it is where the competition is thoughest. Also Kotd 1 was one of the first major aoe tournament for me (first being NC 17) and as usual first times are the most exciting.
Btw. Why some of the tournaments are clumped together?
LOL I miss these two HD noobsIf we were to dig a bit deeper, I would give an honourable mention to Masters of Arabia 2v2 ; ) good settings, best map obviously and very inclusive tournament in general giving a chance to literally everyone to participate. SMB and Milmano were still around back then; D
St4rk vs Ganji and Godofthegoodless vs Blackheart were great. Also Drackont vs Sniper was a great clownish series, especially that Portuguesse vs Aztecs game11.What are some good sets to watch? I've been meaning to watch some qualifiers
Understandable, I find RBW5 great even with the ****ing Viking snipes. Thanks to its medieval castle setting/broadcasting quality alone, I feel it was a cut above other tournaments.Bump for RBW5 Might be a bit of recency bias involved of course but i don't think i enjoyed any other event as much as this. The final, the MBL-Hera set, but also the group stage and even the "meaningless" set between Nicov and Barles it was hype all around.
Games and casting were on point and having all of them together at the location adds a lot of personality. Production all around was also great, sure some stuff was a bit silly and not everything was working perfectly but they did a good job adjusting and some of the downtime filler content was quite enjoyable. Especially Riley did an amazing job imo, having that balance between professional and nerdy presentation :D I know twitch chat likes to call everything cringe as usual but i think the setting, and costumes etc were a nice funny touch that fit AOE especially with the castle as a location. It was obvious they put a lot of effort and money into this and i think it paid off and resulted in a great show.
The schedule was alright as well, of course it was a lot of content but not overwhelming and there was a day off to maybe catch up as well.
Only real negatives for me were the technical issues (not really under their control) and Yo+ACCM not being able to participate due to covid restrictions.
