The 2v2 World Cup main event has space for up to 32 teams. After sign-ups are closed the top two highest-rated players on each team will have their highest achieved rating on the AoE2 DE 1v1 ladder averaged out to be the team's Rating.
After the Qualifier Groups, if there are multiple teams from a nation remaining, they will be placed so that they will face in an early-round at the admin's discretion.
So teams need to provide a passport ? I cant find a same nationality rule either and how thats defined. I find that very unclear.so there is no limit for the number of teams per nation. The only requirement is that you find a teammate who is the same nationality as yours.
please no, can't have such a big tournament without 10 or more top teams...If it's world cup, there should only be one team per country allowed, take highest rated from the signed up teams. It makes no sense otherwise and it's not truly a world cup.

There are no reserved spots for country. The 32 highest rated teams signed up will qualify for the event, regardless of country.Hello !
If I understand well the rules :
- every country gets his best duo in the main event
- if there are not 32 countries, the rest of the 32 spots will be given to the best rated duos from countries that are already signed in.
Did I get it right ?
If yes, what if a country signs up a lower team than most of the participants in the main event ?
Although it says "world cup" , I am kinda hoping that nationalities wouldn't matter. That way we get to see a more competitive tournament. Similar to world championships in some games.
I 100% agree with this. While I'm sure it will be a good tournament and I am certainly excited, I feel as if this would be tons better if it was a more competitive tournament. How great would it be to see team Tempo play in this together, Viper + Tatoh, MBL + Nicov (my guesses of course) etc etc just to name a few. I get that there is history and reason for the countries format. The competitive scene is in such a good place it just stinks that some of the top players will be limited to who else geograpchically lives/lived near them instead of creating the most competitive and best storylines possible. Especially with a very generous prize pool of this caliber, I'd have loved to see everyone with equal opportunity to partner however they want.
I'm not surprised you agree, being an American. When a team wins your National league in any sport, you call them world champions, so yeah, it makes sense that you don't see flags but there's a whole world out there longing to cheer for their country when playing absolutely any sport/game.
I will just point out that I only argued it would be an objectively more competitive and personally more attractive tournament if people were allowed to team as they desired. If you find it more attractive as is, more power to you, but don't turn this into some drama thread with misleading or just straight false facts about other's countries for no reason.
