I tried to ask this, but I didn't get a clear answer. As much first place teams will play against second place teams, but it's unclear how exactly the brackets will look.

The opposite is also true, let's say Czech A and B both make it out of groups (unlikely but we've seen bigger upsets). Instead of facing some of the best opponents in the tournament they would then face each other, giving one of them a free pass to the Quarterfinals, which feels very unfair as well.

While I agree with you that the two teams of the same nation facing each other is not needed, if you wanted to make sure multiple teams of the same nation didn't reach top 8, this would be the way to do it. The admins couldn't know the seedings of the teams or if there would be upsets in the group stage that would prevent a B-team from facing a top 8 opponent.
So in hindsight they might not have needed this rule to prevent two teams from the same nation reaching quarter finals, but they couldn't know that before the tournament started.

As I said worst case would be 7 nations just by looking at top8 teams, B teams are not there and in general I just can see 1-2 upsets in bo5. And if it's 6 then it's six. Is it a competitive 2v2 tournament or not? Just let them play and don't try to reshape your tournament admist the action. That's what all people have said regarding kotd and the upsets.

And the worst is that there are no rules how it will be done, leaving it open to admins to create the brackets by hand??? That cannot be really the intention. Especially not for the biggest tg tournament for years with direct MS involvement. And they can write rules for any number of intranational matchup.

Well, not that I like the rule, but don't they make it like that on the Champion's League? I mean, just the opposite, 2 teams from the same country cannot play in the first elimination round.

There the Ro16 is newly drawn anyway. Is this the case here as well?

From a fan's perspective, if China A were to play China B, I will have no team to support and therefore in round 16 I will have less to look forward to.
If China A and China B were to play teams from other countries, in round of 16, I will have 2 matches to look forward to.
For me, the idea to prevent a tournament from being dominated by one or two countries has already been achieved when you limit 2 teams per country in the main event. To force 2 teams from the same country to play each other in round 16 is unnecessary.

I don’t mind countries facing their compatriots in the first available time. However, it’s so bizarre that we still dont actually have how the top teams are seeded and how the knockouts will look in their entirety. I know top teams may not be in full tryhard mode yet, but you’d be annoyed surely if due to two teams matching up due to being from the same country you are now due to face your previous practice team in the round of 16/8 as a result.
do we even officially know if it’s based on the highest pre-tournament seed who wins their group facing the lowest decider? or is this just an assumption due to the lack of information?

Either way, my interest in this stage of the tournament has been very low as a result of the complete lack of clarity of how the knockouts will look/could be different based on certain results

I too don't like this system, but I don't understand this argument.
Why you have no one to support when China A plays China B? Do you decide which team you support solely on nationality? Do you not like matches where you don't have a team which you root for?

Else the formulation technically allows every straggler deletion imo.

Judging by the state of the qualifiers, there will be at least a week of delay.

I hate the rule, that teams of same countries have to face each other in RO16. I can’t find any good reason for this. What would’ve happened if (just an example) Vietnam A and Vietnam B had won their groups? Would they still have faced each other in the Ro16? There already are limitations to how many teams of a country can get into the main event. Why even have more admin decisions in the brackets?

Imagine that the top 16 teams that advanced from the group stages were:
Argentina A & B
Brazil A & B
Canada A & B
China A & B
France A & B
Germany A & B
Norway A & B
Vietnam A & B
Then in the round of 16 we will see each Country X-A vs Country X-B, which in my opinion have the following drawbacks:
1. it won't be as exciting as matches between Country X-A vs Country Y-B. Let's say if you are from brazil, which team will you cheer for this round?
2. Assuming that Brazil A was with France A in the group stage, and Brazil B was with France B in the group stage, and all these 4 teams knew that they are the top 2 teams in their own group. Now there is no point for any of them to fight for the #1 position in the group stage, because either way, it's guaranteed that one of the France teams will reach top 8 after the round of 16, and it's also guaranteed that only one of Brazil teams can advance after round of 16. What's worse, no matter whether the result was Brazil A> France A or Brazil A < France A or Brazil B< France B or Brazil B> France B in the group stage, we will see Brazil A vs Brazil B and France A vs France B next.

Some of the B Teams had outstanding performances, and yet I cannot get excited about any of the same-nationality matchups, where the team composition was largely based on fielding the best A Team.

It was stated at the beginning of the tournament so if you had problems with it you should've spoken up earlier.

i can only speak for me, but I never read rules for turnaments. I just watch, why would I? But now that the issue appears to the viewerspeople obviously discuss about it.I don’t expect anything to change for this tournament, but maybe it will change things in the future.

No question, just feedback, thoroughly enjoying the tournament so far. Unlucky for France to face Norway directly but I guess they had one in four chances of it happening (actually slightly more with the "no group stage repeat" rule). Thanks for making the seeding video available.

I will also add that reading the complaints from the usual cry babies makes it all the more enjoyable.

I disagree, most comments here are just curious and asking questions about the system, since we only knew they will face each other on RO16, but nobody said how the brackets will be done.

Apparently the final brackets looks nice and fair to me, (also luckily, all 4 A teams are first place and all 4 B teams are second place in group stage, save us from lots of trouble), so I do appreciate it.

But if the final bracket looks otherwise, it's so natural that people may feel uncomfortable one way or another to this kinds of adjustment (e.g. Norway is first place and have to face Spain, because two second place team are from same country, luckily nothing happend) .

I think this argument isn't great, as for Brazilians it might be worse, but now there might be some countries that get top 8 that otherwise wouldn't, so it will be better for fans of those countries, while Brazilian fans will still have a team to cheer for.

This I agree with though and on top of that you also have the weird situation of Canada A and B being in the same group. If they'd both made it out they would then have to play each other again in the Ro16, making the placing in the group stage useless. And if there's multiple teams from the same nation that get the same place in the groups it also invalidates the placings of the other teams. For example if Brazil B, Finland B, Vietnam A, Vietnam B and China B all get second in their groups, there will be three teams that got first and five teams that got second that will have to play each other. This will just be unfair to some of the second place teams that will get placed against a first place team, while others will get to play against another second place team.

Very glad we ditched teams like China C, D, Vietnam C, and Brazil C so we could have some diversity.
So now we get to see China A and China B fight another Chinese team. Again.

I really dislike nationality based tournaments and competitions.

This is great, I think live-streaming this in future tournaments would not only avoid some speculations about brackets being rigged from the start, but could also be great content.
