AOE-II Watch Old DE Recorded Games - Downgrade Tool For DE Replays Manager With Demo Video

I believe most of you were requesting a utility to watch old recorded games; so today I'm happy to announce Downgrade tool which looks like..

As you can observe It couldn't be more easier to switch between patches just select the patch you need, login and hit downgrade button. (before downgrading use settings button to backup your hotkeys and restore them after reverting back to latest version)

I made a short video showing how I watched an old recorded game and all little steps I went through.

Looks good. I do have a concern, though. I don't like typing in my username and password in third-party software, even when I have SteamGuard with 2FA enabled. It appears that you are using SteamCMD, however, which only allows you to authenticate by typing in your username and password, so it's understandable but not ideal.

I know that I didn't have to do this when installing WK through Steam. So is there a way around this? Do you really have to use SteamCMD?

Then use Update Checker to get latest release. Version downgrade is up to date.

I don't like typing in my username and password in third-party

I'm using the official open source SteamDepotDownloader to download the depots and if you take a look at the code which I did myself it's pure highly encrypted communication between you and steam. You login/password is directly and exclusively handled by Steam official library SteamKit2, not by DE Replays Manager or Steam Depot Downloader.

Now let me correct a misconception. DE Replays Manager is not third-party software. It's an open source software which you can edit and compile yourself at https://github.com/gregstein/DE-Replays-Manager

Currently Steam forces everyone to login to download previous depots. If they revoke this behavior or i figure something better I'd be sure to use it.

You just upgrade to the latest version using the same degrading tool. Just select the update version and 24th March in the dropdown (as of now)

You can downgrade or upgrade using the tool as @HelloWorld shows in the picture.

Or you can right click AoE2 DE in your steam library >Properties > Local Files> Verify integrity of files.

it just says I cant run multiple copies of the game and it crashes.

Hey Greg! Did hacking the Zoom to over 100% to use with the Sensei resolution shrink feature turn out to be unfeasible?

this **** just ****ed up my game, can't even open the game anymore, and even restoring old files doesn't work.

it just says I cant run multiple copies of the game and it crashes.

Go to your Steam library > Right click AOE2 DE > Properties > Local Files > Verify the integrity of game files.

You must have interrupted the downgrade in the middle of progress or your antivirus corrupted the downloads. Many players are using the tool and so am I since its release.

The multiple copies thing is because you did not close DE Replays Manager before running the game.

I recommend the latest version its performance is improved significantly. Sorry for trouble friend

It turned out that the game has the zoom locked to an additional 50% which is 100% max.

no problem, I managed to put it back to a current version and it works find now. might give it another go then, thought it's not compatible with the newest patches anymore. Thanks for the reply!
