Method: Once a week (normally on Monday), the Top 16 positions of the Voobly RM 1v1 ladder were registered. 1st = 16 points, 2nd = 15 points, ..., 16th = 1 point. If a player had several accounts in Top 16, only his best position was counted, but the other account denied points for other players -- this was changed starting with 2018-10-15 (smurfs removed and lower ranks upgraded respectively). The total amount of points was then divided by the number of weeks. First entry: 2017-01-22. The table contains the ranking's Top 32.​

It seems like quite an accurate ladder. Personally i would rate DauT, Tatoh and Jordan, maybe even Vinch and the Max a few positions higher, but the top 7 seems very accurate and i dont miss names in top 20/top30.

I wonder what Chris is still doing in there though, didnt he stop playing before 2017?

EDIT: And the Arena Clowns dont really belong there in my opinion, sry Edie and Stefan 11

What do you mean by stored version? I manually add the 16 names of a week into an excel file, the numbers are generated automatically.

What made you release it just now and not before?

I started it with a "yearly ranking" intention in accordance with my "Competitions & Outcomes" posts, but recently I thought why not have it as a regularly updated cumulative one like your "Highest" list.

Why top 16 and not 10 or 20?

Because it's a common number in competitions.

Why the point system and not just the average position?

16/x would kind of say something about the average position (but is distorted by smurfs in top 16 e.g.). I don't think there is any conclusive reason for the point system. I started it without doing the division, just accumulating points, and then it looks better with big numbers at the top I think.

So for 18 months you did it every week? That was the question. The other option would be that it is possible to load a version of the specific website from a specific date. I don't know if that is possible.

didnt mean to insult by using "clown", just seems to be the term thats used here for arena players :D in fact i like playing arena from time to time, probably my favourite after arabia
Still, many or most players in the list excel in every kind of map. I mean vs how many players in this list can you win on other maps besides arena(/hideout/BF/ fortress)?

ladder/ranking biased on rating are never really accurate, you always had overrated people, underrated people, and "the one map specialist" , if you really take this (or other) ladder by letter, it can give u an idea, but its definitly not 100% truth at all. It’s not rating that give you tournament achievement, look how spaden or other aren’t event in this list.

Also, i didnt understand how the ranking was made,its biased on what ? Beucase i am 13 on it, but its been like 6 month that i dont have a high rating (2k4/2k5) or try to be in the top 20 rated page.

thats right ofc. its just that it feels more accurate about overall skill level than the Voobly ladder, were players like Villese (no offense, he is a strong player, but not the best in the world) can have a run up to #1, while players like liereyy and viper dont even appear in top 10 sometimes.
The top 7 of this ladder feel way more accurate to my personal opinion, and in my personal opinion Arabia is the "standard" map for AoE, that i give most value when it comes to comparing expert players. Feel free to disagree =)

Very nice list, very interesting. Have you ever considered ignoring the oldest entries (i.e., so that you end up with always only the last 52 weeks or maybe later the last 104 weeks or something)? Otherwise newer, consistently high ranked players will find it difficult to climb in the list

All the data is in one excel file. Statistics can be made with any portion of it. The list in the original post just happens to be the thing I chose to display. If there is a reasonable demand for something else, I can produce it / share the excel.

In a showmatch, + some few tournaments, he performed better than stefan IIRC. Could be wrong though.

But this list is only about the games/placement on the RM 1v1 ladder. And while Metal has been in the top 10, he has also disappeared from the top 40 again and again, while stefan's one account was in the top 20 for a long time and 1 or even 2 of his in the top 40 most of the examined time.

Couldn't decide whether to remove St4rk or JorDan from the list. St4rk has more absolute points, JorDan was in Top 16 RM 1v1 more recently.

I think smurfing is very beneficial in this, because
-always taking the best nick into account considerably reduces the risk of having a bad week
-the idle smurf nicks deny points for other ppl

Also, even though it's supposed to be a consistency ranking, I would like to see the later entries weighted a bit more important than the earlier ones. Consistency is one thing, and then history is another, weighing some ppl down (or floating them up), for months or even years. Eg how can Chris, someone who hasnt even played for ages, be considered "consistent"?

Yet a couple words about multiple accounts on this ladder in form of a simplified scenario:

Say there are two hypothetical, equal-skill players. Let's call them "MauT" and "DemBL" so they dont refer to anyone we know. They both try fight for the same standing, say the 3rd place, on the ladder, and their skills are equal in every way. Their only difference is that DemBL has two nicks and MauT only one.

MauT and DemBL both have good weeks and bad weeks in relation to each other. On a bad week, MauT or DemBL plays a lot against ThePython, who is a much better player, and loses points. On a good week, he spends most of his time preying on weaker players, the "fish" (or maybe it's a hippo), and gains points. Or maybe on good weeks he just plays better than normally, and on bad weeks worse than normally. The differences are small on top level. Anyway, whenever DemBL has a good week, he usually gets both his nicks on standings 3 and 4. Maut must settle for 5th. Whenever MauT has a good week, he gets the 3rd place and DemBL is 4th. Over time, each has the 3rd place equal amount of weeks. However, DemBL gets a much better consistency ranking.
