There are still 2 days of open qualifiers this weekend that will qualify an additional 20 participants, but I think this is the majority of big names from AoE2.

Will our AoE2 champions redeem the prestige of AoE2 players after we have been crushed by the likes of SC2, AoE3, and AoM players?

I checked a few: KoTD4, Redbull 5, Wandering Warriors Cup and N4C all had matches on weekdays (i.e., not friday, saturday, sunday). I would say its highly unusual to host an eight week tournament and have every single game on a weekend. Even though the reason is obviously the one you stated.

Obviously Lans affect the possibility to play only on weekends.

A minor error on our end. We accidentally qualified Kasva twice (ATR and QS). An additional player automatically qualified.

UCL matches are typically weeknights. Conversely LEC (top EU LoL league) matches are on weekends, similar to normal EPL weeks. They must be trying to position Golden League as the default regular competition for AoE4, which would make sense considering it is one of the most potentially lucrative positions to occupy in a game ecosystem. Whether there is enough value in holding this position for AoE4 is still up in the air but the game is not quite old enough for them to definitively conclude it isn't going to improve enough. Playing the odds with the performance I've seen from Microsoft I would not have a lot of optimism but on the other hand if whoever is financing this has a lot of extra money they're really not risking that much right now anyway.

I think Viper is devoting the majority of his training time to AoE4 at the moment, specifically to be more competitive in Golden League
Tatoh and Daut also have a good chance to place in the top 40 (the money paying positions)

Honestly, the prizemoney isnt really that high considering that players have to play 3 rounds of 64 player double-elimination "group stage" (12 days in total), you only get 2k MAX finishing outside top 8. 11

Oh I wasn't aware of that. I thought Champions League weekday nights were a big thing. If all the domestic federations were in an uproar over the failed Super League I can't imagine they would be too enthusiastic about those efforts either.
