I need to second this. I've seen much more posts complaining about smurfing than actual smurfing in both Voobly and HD. (none)Is that actually true?
I've only played about 250 games on Voobly at around 16/17 level but I felt I faced a smurf like 3 times. On the other hand, I've been accused of smurfing much more frequently. Which I never did.
From my limited experience it seems like that for a lot of people a loss simply means that they faced a smurf.
Can't speak about TGs as I haven't played enough games.
I have, however, been accused of being a smurf and seen friends accused of being smurfs although I struggled to keep my rating above 1500.
Now, I don't play DE 1v1 ranked because being the player's pool that small, its quite often that I'm matched to a guy much better than I, thus ruining the fun. I keep waiting that others join in order to start playing frequently, but that may be the case for others (in the mean time, I often play ranked TGs on DE, which i enjoy despite sometimes having morons in my team that wont react, communicate, that will only boom and die...)
But, if you watch the numbers at aoe2.net you can see:
- 7.8 k people playing 1v1 RM (at least 10 games)
- 10.8k people playing TG RM (at least 10 games)
- 38k people playing unraked (at least 10 games including scenarios, forest nothings, different modes, games vs AI, cheat codes... AND everyone that cannot pass the benchmark test)
