USA Cup 2021

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is with great pleasure that I announce the biggest national tournament in AOE, the USA Cup!
Sponsored by CSAMCCAUSLAND and T90Official, with a prizepool of $6200 we have put together a tournament that will test the players metal and determine once and for all who our true Champion is!

The top 8 players from across the land have been invited, while a further 8 will qualify to battle it out in a knock out tournament.

Dates​

Qualifiers from 04/17/21 to 04/23/21
Main event from 04/24/21 to 05/02/21

Seeding​

Players will be seeded based on current RM elo as at 17:00 PST (20:00 EST) on April 10th.
The top 8 entrants will automatically qualify for the main event, while top 16 remaining players will play qualifiers.

Maps & Civs​

The Qualifiers will be played as hidden civ on UC_Arabia
The main event will include a civ draft; draft links will be posted in the discord.
Game 1 of each set for the main event will be played on UC_Arabia, players will be allowed to pick home maps from the map pool for the remaining games. No map bans will be allowed

Hidden civilization must be picked when hosting the lobby.

Rules​

Restarts
No restarts will be allowed except in the unlikely event that a map is bugged.

Bugged Map Restarts
A player can request bugged map restarts during the first 6 minutes (game time). A restart requested due to a bugged map does not count as one of the restarts awarded before a series.
A bugged map is defined as the following for standard resource starts:
Gold: Less than 5 tiles of the main gold cluster are at least accessible on one side, extra gold are excluded.
Stone: Less than 4 tiles of a stone cluster are at least accessible on one side, extra stones are excluded.
Berries: Less than 4 tiles of a berry cluster are at least accessible on one side.
Animals: Spawned with less than 3 deer or less than 8 sheep or less than 2 boars or, one or more of the animals being trapped.

Laming
Players may steal enemy boars with their scout and are allowed to do anything else that is permitted within the game, including stealing boar with villagers, walling in resources, or blocking/killing villagers in the dark age.

Straggler Trees & Fish Deleting
Players are not allowed to delete the straggler trees which spawn within 10 tiles of an opposing player’s Town Center. This rule does not apply if the straggler tree which is being deleted forms part of a wall for the defending player. On maps where main forests are exclusively straggler trees, it is strictly forbidden to delete straggler trees from opponents (using the "palisade trick") unless they are being used as part of a mid-section of the wall.
Players may not remove fish that spawn on any sort of terrain by placing buildings on top of them.

Cheating
Cheating is not allowed under any circumstances. Players using any kind of cheat will be disqualified from the tournament and banned from future events.

Streaming​

This event is open casting; streamers who wish to cast games should join the discord and visit the #USA-Cup-Casting-Information channel for lobby codes, drafts and other information.
Players may choose to stream their own POV's, however must apply a 2 minute stream delay.

I know it might sound like meme for most of you because you dont know McCausland, but lately he is being supporting the american Aoe Scene, so believe me when i say this guy is legit, and the price will be given

 

Great initiative Can't wait when it officially starts.

 

I don't think anyone doubts McCausland will deliver, at this point most of the scene is acquainted with him and his sub-gifting ways. The issue seems to be the fact that the prize is to be paid in kind rather than in cash, with the valuation being entirely subjective, not to mention the potential logistic hurdles that may come up.

 

I like how this whole things feels like an elaborate way to give Daniel a watch.
Be great to see a nice turnout of American players though.

In BO1 luck has more impact in the result and BO3 would be better imo even if it's only qualifiers.
Nevertheless, I am excited for the event and a watch as a top price, that's fancy for sure :D.

 

So let me get this straight. This is an American tournament posted by someone from Malta, with the prize pool posted in French currency convention, the top prize being a Swiss watch, casted exclusively by a Spaniard.

Doesn't get any more American than that.
