The idea of this thread is to post whatever you want about the tournament. I'll start:

Didn't watch the first two games of the series, but what a game by Jordan, he seems very sharp.

I am glad that the newer generation of players/viewers is finally getting to see how good Jordan can be when he is really clicking.

I kind of understand him. He must be exhausted after all the effort put to achieve what he achieved in Hidden Cup and still having to prepare for Two Pools. Maybe streaming is some stress he can't afford right now.

JorDan played amazingly but I feel like Nili's impact here shouldn't be understated, even if every now and then it felt like he panicked and did something wrong, he still did so many little things that allowed JorDan to perform this well in the first place, from the sling on Kawasan, guarding relics on rockslide and a great defence there and probably overall making a ton of great calls during those games

Was an amazing set overall. GL C might not quite be among the greatest of the great teams yet, but they have talent to make all of their sets entertaining in some way, and I'm really really looking forward to see what they grow into in the future.

Always feels odd to me to single out one player in a team when it's team games, but outside that he's certainly up there. So solid in every game, impressive.

The thing for me is how good Yo is in unbalanced positions and how he can make a storm out of a drizzle. Obviously Yo doesn't play alone, but how he managed to perform in some situations is very impressive. In fact, it reminds me a bit of Viper consistently winning completely lost games back when he was the uncontested top 1.

Yes. TheMax is the best tg player imo. That guy always is making greedy yet safe decisions... Putting his score up above everyone else's. He manages to sneak an extra tc or play just that slight bit more careful to conserve his knight numbers. Not to mention his compositions are always the best possible and he and villese communicate and multitask almost perfectly. From time to time he and the other finns pull some crazy strategies off as well ( I remember max going goths in some very high profile tournaments and the finn(s) slinging his spam to victory, for example).

That being said I haven't seen him recently. Perhaps yo is overtaking him... And of course you can never count out the viper. But I don't think any other player comes that close to these three.

I beg to differ. YO seems to be better.

It just seems Suomi in general is in downward trend. No new members, sad to see them age and potentially disapper.

Villese may disagree about that downward trend tho. But to be fair, few TG tournaments happened lately, Suomi's results in 2v2WC and BoA were quite decent (although bad luck in 2v2 to run into China in quarters), and Zuppi and Rubenstock were never dominating 1v1 players. In a 3v3 or 4v4, I still expect Suomi to shine

Best TG player is Liereyy but he doesn't get recognition as he hardly ever plays and if he does ( in the tournaments ) it's usually the flank position that doesn't shine as people pay most attention to pocket that naturally can be more decisive than a flank.

I have nothing to say regarding Liery. But I agree that in team games casters and viewers give too much credit to the player who attacks the most or the one with the most kills, while the other players are completely ignored as if they did nothing to win the game.

An easier way to see how ridiculous this is would be to say that in a football match the striker position is more important than a defender or a midfielder because they're the ones scoring goals. Simply ridiculous. All players/positions are equally important and they should all share mostly the same credit for a win. It is a team effort after all.

Fully agree on the team recognition, but you also did bring up the best counter example. I mean look who gets all the individual prizes in Football, its the strikers/goal scorers mostly. Very rare to see a defender to receive an individual award.

I have to say I'm super impressed with Salzz ins this tournament. I think they should've beaten Lyx and Yo yesterday, and to even get there says a lot. Whatever the result of the decider match next week looks like, they had a really nice tournament.

As for the best TG player, I think you need to differentiate between Pocket/Flank and 2v2.
In Pocket I see Max, Yo and Viper as top 3, in whatever order with AM/Tempo guys and Daut on his day not far behind.
As for flank, Lierrey would be number 1 for me, as for the following guys I think there are many very close flank players, and many things depend on the personal performence of the day.

This. I've been thinking for almost a year that Liereyy is the best flank in the world. Before his 1v1 wins, I already felt he had activated a godmode during Tete and BoA.

Not only flank, he also is the best pocket player of his team by far ^^ but just doesn't play that role.

Water maps can be so annoying sometimes...

EDIT: Honestly I'm not against winning conditions other than conquest on water maps.

Really scary performence by Tempo. Miguel and Dogao played great on Arabia but I guess noone was expecting the Burmese Elephants. Probably the only way Eles can be played, with some sling from the archer player.

Team Islands: Actually in TGs I think Sicilians are not a second pool Islands civ. They are very strong at landing and have water options, Suomi used them very well and Hera this time as well. I think if you have Team Islands in the map pool you should avoid picking sicilians for the opponent.

Cape of Storms: At first I thought the hole will cost Tempo the game, but despite sustaining a lot of damage through that, Burgundians actually proved quite sick in early castle age. Especially with good macro and execution behind. I almost feel like you need to play this different with Teutons/Persians here.
I thought about a weird stonewall boom into Imp into halb Siege from Teutons, the map is probably too aggressive for that.

I think you nailed it. It seems it's the only way elephants are viable. Anyway, I love this tournament because we see things we do not ussually see, like burmese elefantos on arabia, winning

Absolutely, additionally I assume you need a player of Heras caliber, the macro despite loosing like 50 vills or more to raids, it really need top tier execution and teamplay to pull this off. It also helped a great deal that Heresy had no arb civ. So these were specific circumstances that are not easy to replicate.
I would have loved to see Burmese elephants yesterday from Vinchester as well and I believe in RF its even more justified as your boom is a bit more secure.
Lastly I think Burmese elephants was the only win condition Hera and Lierrey had, if you get to them you win, if not Frank Paladins win this by a big margin probably. Intriguing game all around.

Unfortunately I got up really late and missed that series, but it's nice to have a read about how the games went.

On the GL A - Suomi series, Suomi playing solid games as usual. Villese looks to me the sharpest player of the 4 so far.
