Hello everyone,

If you enjoy the first edition or you missed it, don't worry you have another opportunity to team up with anyone you like, regardless of his elo, and have tons of fun =) Since Merry-Go-Rounds is a map especially made to be beginner-friendly while keeping the game interesting for experienced players. It's the perfect fit for "high skill gap" games.

The concept of "True FMT**" tournaments is to give advantages or handicaps according to player's elo.

** FMT = Friends May Team

Quick Informations

Find the map and the description of it on the workshop entries:

Quick answers (more details below):
  • When? The 10th of November from ~15:00 GMT to ~22 GMT (at the latest!), Yes everything will be done in one afternoon/evening! (You'll have to be around the whole time (a break is scheduled don't worry).
  • What? A mini 2v2 true FMT (Friends May Team) tournament on MGoR !
  • Why true FMT? Because Extra vils will be given according to elo, therefore all teams in the tournament will be balanced.
  • For who? Any ETK and Guests of the order(everyone) can enter ( You need to have at least 25 ranked 1v1 games on Voobly (or 15 if Medieval Siege), that you didn't lose on purpose. (We're trusting you, no smurfs please!! That's a small tournament for fun, don't ruin it <3 )
  • Where? On Voobly only (If both team agrees to play it on HD and it works, I'm ok with it).
  • How to sign up? Post an answer on this thread or contact me by any means (discord, voobly, steam). When you sign up tell me the elos of both players and a team name if you want to have one, for potential seeding please inform how much you played MGoR already.
  • What if I don't have a teammate? Join the ETK discord and ask there, I'll try to match people that are motivated to play.
  • Any prizes? Yes (more details below)
  • Any other prerequiste? Speaking English, being nice etc. Respecting schedule! (1 player on the team should have read this whole post and the workshop entry entirely (except the "the game designer approach and goals" section).
  • How many teams? We'll play the tournament if we have 5 teams at least. We accept teams until a maximum of 12.

Everyone should be present on the ETK Discord server, on #merry-go-rounds-2v2-tournament channel during the whole tournament (From 14:00 GMT to 21 GMT (at the latest!)). That's where results and recs will be shared, drawings of the brackets aswell etc. (

Games will be synched (by rounds), so we'll need everyone to be available right after the end of their previous game.
  • If we have to wait more than 15 minutes for a team without valid* explanations, we'll consider that this team lost the game 3-0.
  • If there is technical issues that are delaying the game start for more than 20 minutes:
    • If we can clearly identify one team responsible*, we'll consider that the responsible team lost the game 3-0.
    • If we cannot clearly identify one team responsible, it will be a tie 3-3 (0.5 pt) for each team.
A 1h break is scheduled after the 3rd round (~16 GMT)

Brackets will be available on:
(I'll manage everything on the challonge page with the informations you'll give me during the tournament)

*I'll be the one to make those decisions

If we have 5 or 6 teams: 4 Swiss rounds into final
Otherwise: 5 Swiss rounds into final

Wiki entry for "Swiss-system tournament":
A Swiss-system tournament is a non-eliminating tournament format which features a set number of rounds of competition, but considerably fewer than in a round-robin tournament. In a Swiss tournament, each competitor (team or individual) does not play every other. Competitors meet one-to-one in each round and are paired using a set of rules designed to ensure that each competitor plays opponents with a similar running score, but not the same opponent more than once. The winner is the competitor with the highest aggregate points earned in all rounds. All competitors play in each round unless there is an odd number of players.
Everyone will play on each round (except if we have a odd number of teams) and the two best teams will play the final.

The tie breakers for the swiss phase are the following:
  1. Wins vs tied participants
  2. Median-Buchholz system (If you won against people that won a lot it matters more)
  3. Points difference (3-0 ingame is more valuable than 3-2)

At least one member of each team should now how to host MGoR and set up everything correctly (read the workshop entry carefully!) Please do it, it's really important! host_mgor-white.jpg option-island.jpg

To vary the experience the settings will be different for each round:
Round 1: BO5 (ingame), No boom, No skip
Round 2: BO7, No boom, No skip
Round 3: BO3, No boom, No skip
Round 4: BO5, Boom allowed, No skip
(Round 5): BO7, Buildable spots enabled, No boom, No skip

The final will be a best-of 3 games, BO3, BO5, (BO7), all with no boom, no skip options enabled.

We'll use the same equalizer as last time, we're not using the "Steam elo", ignore that column:
Don't worry, I'll help you with that during the tournament (Through the discord channel)

Civilization choice
Each team bans 10 civs for the opposing team. (They can still pick a civ they ban for the other team, if the other team didn't ban it for them).
Then each player can pick their civilization and the civ of their allies (for team bonuses).

If you care about the order (not banning before knowing opponents ban or not picking before opponents pick), ask an admin or anyone you trust to be the middle-man, a typical scenario will be:
  1. Team 1 and Team 2 tell admin the 10 civs they ban.
  2. Admin tells Team 1 and Team 2 the 10 civs that they cannot pick.
  3. Team 1 and Team 2 tell the admin the civs they pick for each player.
  4. Admin tells Team 1 and Team 2 all the civs picked.
No slinging
Sending tribute is forbidden before reaching imperial age.
Also, you can NEVER send tribute if you are 3 or more elo layer below your teammate (e.g. 15xx Voobly while you're ally is 18xx Voobly).

1st to 12th:
  • Have their nicknames on a "hall of fame" inside MGoR. (Special mention for 1st)
  • Have a discord title related to their achievment:
    • True FMT 2nd edition
    • True FMT 2nd edition - Finalist
    • True FMT 2nd edition - Champion
1st team:
  • 2 times 5$ Steam gift card.
  • Will have a special "easter-egg" inside MGoR, that they can suggest and discuss with me. (That goes from renaming the monument to adding special triggers when you do something in particular, be creative! =) )
2nd team:
  • 2 times gift subscription to a twitch streamer (I don't know who will cast the tournament yet, but the subs will probably be to them).
Contact me if you're interested to cast the tournament live or with the recs. Players that want to stream while they are playing should inform me aswell.

Pyroptere is the admin in charge of the tournament, he has the right to change any rules as he pleases him! (But he really care about everyone and want them to have a pleasant experience!) I'm just writing that, because I'm sure I forgot plenty of stuff to precise and want everything to work properly. (Prizes won't be removed, that you can be sure! (maybe some additions  )

@At1la I don't really get your question that I translated to:
"What happened with this?"
"Hi, finally what happened with this?"

It's a tournament organized for the 10th of November around the map "Merry-Go-Rounds". For now it's the sign-up phase =)
