"streamed the entire thing", I thought Escape didn't stream the Mono finals? This could be because they had to be rescheduled, but I'm pretty sure it still would have been very valuable to do so.
"we did more than any previous event in AoE2 to promote ECL with the exception of streaming in the weeks leading up to the event", I think the thread's contention is that streaming prior to an event is the most crucial for generating interest, so doing more in other areas isn't as useful. But if all of Escape was fully occupied preparing for LAN, then it's of course difficult. Plus, as you say, these build-up streams would have only gathered small audiences, but this ties in to the lack of AoE2 content in general. Just something to consider for the future then.
"what is the use of the studio?" The most pertinent question of all. Find an answer to that and all problems are solved. It seems superfluous most of the year, only useful for big events. Maybe it has to be rented out when not needed for large AoE functions, idk.
