I was thinking about the rule about scheduling and turning up. The usual rule as written in most (if not all) tournament rules is like this:
- 30 minutes after a confirmed time, a waiting player can take screenshots and send it to an admin with a request for AW.
(the time varies, but the rules is generally speaking the same, this one is taken from LotH2)
So what I was thinking is this: why does being late more than half an hour garantuee an AL for the entire series? A single game of AoE2 usually takes 20 to 40 minutes (30 to 60min ingame time). A best of 5 can take up to 3 hours and longer. Wouldn't it make more sense to give an AL for a one or more games in the series if a player is late but does turn up?
My proposal for a new rule would be something like this:
- Every 30min after the confirmed time the waiting player is granted an AW for the game in succeeding order.
This rule would still punish belated player while encouraging to still show up (since there is yet a chance to win the series).
