Top 10 Aoe2 Player Ranking Poll!

My stream and I make a Top 10 player ranking after every major S-tier Tournament. King of the Desert 4 has just concluded and the mods have presented us with a new poll! I would love for you guys to help us find the most accurate Top 10 player ranking of this very moment. The help is very much appreciated.

Definitive rankings are basically impossible. But I think we can identify "tiers" based on what would or wouldn't count as an upset. Beating someone in a higher tier is an upset, beating someone in a higher subtier is a slight upset, matches between players in the same tier are only upsets if one player sweeps.

Tier 1a:
TheViper, Liereyy

Tier 1b:
Hera, Yo

Tier 2a:
DauT, Jordan, MbL, TaToH, Villese

Tier 2b:
Vinchester (possibly 2a, let's see how he follows up KotD)

Tier 3a:
Nicov, ACCM, dogao

Tier 3b:
Sitaux, slam, BacT, TheMax, Capoch

etc

Imo PROject_Belgium (who unfortunately missed KotD) and Vodka should be ahead of LaN, Hearttt (doesn't make sense to rank him anyway if he doesn't participate in tourneys) and Dark.

In my opinion, you should fix the top 4. You literally had a $75k tournament that finished 1 day ago to help you make this decision.

Someone beats 3 out of 4 top players and is still barely considered top 10 "at the moment"?

Personally disagree. People can ride the hot hand in any given tourney and need to see Vinchester regularly go deep in S-tiers before I’d rate him ahead of the likes of Yo, Herrer or even Villese.

Your mate Richard Krajicek wasn’t world number one at tennis the day after he duffed up MaliVai Washington at Wimbledon.

I'd generally agree with you but I thought this was more of a who is the best at the moment. And likely to change weekly or monthly. If we want a really objective ranking just do Bo21 of each player against every other player.

Based on that logic, MbL would have to be second, since he beat Vinchester and was only knocked out by TheViper, the eventual champion. Of course, MbL also lost to Sitaux, who lost to Liereyy, who lost to Vinchester, so maybe we should just accept that any of the top players can beat each other on their day and the last result isn't the only thing that matters.

Agreed, and we've seen people have that kind of knee-jerk response in the past with Nicov and TheMax. One or two good tournament results doesn't instantly make you top 5. I think we saw a more measured response (and rightly so) when Jordan made the final of HC4 in March. He has a strong case to be considered top 5 now, but that's only after he followed up HC with further solid results.

That being said Richard Krajicek was the only man to beat Sampras at Wimbledon between 1993 and 2000, so in 1996 when Krajicek won the title, one could argue he was indeed the best in the world on grass at the time (didn't last long obviously).

Apparently this is based on tournament results and not handsomeness (hence why I am not #2 and you are not #1)
