I don't know about DracKeN but when people call me out for being disrespectful I agree and apologize because I do not actually condone acting this way and only ever do it in the heat of the moment. I do not double down on my disrespect after the fact.
This thread can be summarized as this:

• scugo95 justifiably calls out Dragonstar for being disrespectful by instantly unpausing
• Dragonstar proceeds to continue his disrespect and tell scugo95 that his head was dropped on concrete as a child and that he is a dumb **** (can only guess that is either the S word or the F word)
• AoEZone community comes to Dragonstar's aid because they think Hoang's style of laming and playing an overpowered strategy is somehow comparable to instantly denying somebody's pause attempt (sometimes something comes up and you have to pause, and it's not your fault)

If we consider Nili vs. Hera, as a Marvel movie with superstars involved, big budget, extraordinary publisher like please don't choose goths, this one is a French movie that made mediocre result in box office with perfect writing and second level actors.

I think you’ve come a good way since I recall some of the things when you were 15-16, some years ago. Hope you keep trying to be better too, it’s something I like about you.

And unless it’s something recent, I think some of Dracken’s stuff years ago was when he was prob a teenager as well. Seems different from some of the old arena stuff I vaguely remember.

Playing Devil's advocate here, but doesn't courtesy go both ways? Would you be pissed off that someone didn't hold the door for you when you just pushed him off the queue?

Just check Hoang's last hundreds of 1v1 RM games. He picks Mongols everytime and tries to lame so that he has 3 boars and the opponent has 1. In a ladder game where people queue to improve and have fun, isn't that scummy behaviour as well?

Afaik, Dragonstar is a working professional and gets maybe limited time to play the game. Why is he obligated to wait for someone when he hasn't been provided a fair game and probably wants to move to the next game as soon as possible?

The question is does he do it to everyone when there's a pause? Or even to Hoang every game? I don't think so. This was a just a one off incident between two players who should have moved on without the drama.

First you'd need to start eating the TCs vs me . And yes, unpausing is legal, same as laming and same as picking civs and doing the same strategy every game just because it's working and doesn't require skill, each is dumb, awkward and ruins the experience.

real pro players like viper and yo dont care about these you mentioned and they could win against hoang. Only players like u and dragonster with 0 achievements get mad and think unpausing is legal.

@100Dragonstar does wait when other players pause. This was mainly because he was pissed off at @hoang485 's lame and hoang's game-style.

I like both players and their streams. But Dragon could have resigned and opened dashboard to not queue up agasint hoang and hoang could have played on and tried winning even after the unpause. Hoang need not call dragon a dog, and dragon neednt have suggested hoang learn english.

Hoang is just someone who rightfully exploits the biggest “cancer“ of DE: civ picking. Sure, it was always possible to pick civ in ranked games (even on Voobly) but good luck finding someone to play against like this. It was considered noobish and bad manners in general to pick civ. But now, you can pick whichever civ you want as long as you wish to and people like Hoang benefit from it.

Well I would be quite sceptical with such voting. Such voting needs a proper explanation before and more context after voting. Because even I as a viewer enjoy people like Jordan facing hoang, top players tilt playing hoang, that's a nice entertaining for viewers. However, I enjoy playing once in a long while against some stuff like persian douche, but imaging playing 3x in a row against it and then next day too and the next day too, that would be totally unfun. Is just very different if you pick anyone <1.8k they usually get different opponents play against different styles, which is fun, but at high level people have to play same opponents over and over again and if you have to face some BS strat all the time from a player ofc it's annoying. When I get douched in ladder I often get surprised, i need to scout if is coming and so on. With hoang all of that is gone, everyone knows what he is doing and that takes a lot from the fun playing. Basically from a viewer perspective can seem to play against hoang is fun and interesting is about surviving initial push etc, but if you put it into perspective that you already played against him 50 or 100 times is very different,

If ranked ladder would change the setup so that anyone above 2.1k elo isnt allowed to pick civ, that would make all the pros happy, BUT would sadden soo many people who enjoy watching the Hoang rush. This can easily be done if devs wanted.

The reason I wrote about the viewer poll from jordan's chat was to say that people enjoy watching hoang, even if pros dont enjoy playing against it.

I understand what you mean, and Dragonstar being tilted is fine. BUT aoe2 is richer because of people like hoang. Viewers see something different than the similar meta play. He isnt hacking or cheating, but is trying to play the game to its limit. We noobs just need to get better so that jordan has someone else to play apart from hoang.

Actually, I think the discussion here is quite important, as we are articulating/contesting our values as a community.

On one side, we see people who think the convention of allowing players to pause has almost the weight of a rule. To deny another player a reasonable pause is such a violation of community standards that the player should be considered a pariah. It is never OK. One should resign rather than deny a pause if the pause is unwelcome.

The other side argues that other conventions are involved as well, such as not civ-picking, not laming, and not being in general a player who makes the game less fun for others all the time. They argue that being a general pain means that the convention of allowing you to pause whenever you want should not be automatically granted. Yet even this side seems to sympathize with The Dragonstar more than accept that his behavior was acceptable and that this sympathy is only available as a one-off.

Dont you think its actually not that great of a community if it doesn't have any wiggle room for a single incidence. The average age of AOE player is high. We all have real lives, we get bad days, we come from an angry situation and so much more. I dont know dragon personally, if he keeps doing this again and again.. sure.. ban him or call toxic and what not in terms of keeping community healthy. But dude said he was being salty and admitted to it, so what else is there? Move on.

We have rules in tournament where I am sure this should give straight up win to Hoang and that's fair, that's how it should be. But dont be so tight about lobby games (unless I am missing something and this was a tourney game) and bring in community culture and standards. Its all fake, something you fancy about. Its a virtual community. You make friends, you enjoy games and have a good time. There are people you will go along with and there will be douches! Just not getting this whole outcry if its was one incident.
