Clearly people need to watch the VOD. @hoang485 should not have deleted the vod so that everyone could see what happened.

If nothing else, it would add to the drama as well as views for hoang's stream.

Well not to be devil's advocate, to unpause game is unsportmanship, however we all have bit different understanding about the game. As I personally take laming kind of "I'm a noob and can't win in even game" and at same time whenever dude lamers boar(sheeps is w/e) is like "I don't care about good game, all I care is puntos" so is like zero respect given for a game, so not sure if player who lames every time supposed to get much respect. And again, there will be tons of people who will say "but it's part of the game", well yeah, shitty part, which often decides a game and I can't stop anyone from doing it, but then do not cry that people who are against it give zero respect to you.

Just to give you an example, in high tier tournaments you can't unpause, but you usually can lame. I can understand the frustration you have when you get constantly lamed, but this doesn't give you the permission to unpause the game when the opponent has some real life issues. About the flaming I can't say much since I am the first to do that when the opponent lames or plays in a "socotra" style with forward vills, towers ecc.

If you saw the vod, you could see that dragon wrote 14 and waited for ~30 secs before unpausing. 30 secs without a "sry 2 mins" is justifiable area for unpausing

A systemic solution to this pause/unpause problem:

(a) Is there any data (anecdotal or otherwise) to understand which players pause a lot in-game (although difficult I do think it's technically possible to do so)? If a certain player pauses a lot, lames my resources - I am in no way under any obligation to be nice to them. Let's remember - to pause is a request, not a wish. It's incredibly annoying when people just pause and don't say anything (happens a lot at 1200 elo TGs).

(b) Is there any way to block certain players so that you don't match them when you queue? While you may consider laming to be a part of game, I consider laming (particularly when the opponent gets loom in dark age kills your boar/deer and starts walling your gold/stone) to be incredibly annoying. It doesn't matter whether you think it's part of the game and people should not complain. I don't play this game to give you satisfaction. I play it for my own fun.

If I get (b) feature, I don't necessarily need (a).

You're also not allowed to pause for just any reason.

if someone pauses, he/she should say how long. Anything more than 30sec real time needs a response to justify the pause. If you need a 2 min pause, request or resign.

Maybe not the same level, but exactly same style. Do not bring tournament manners/games here, that has nothing to do with it. There are proper rules which can be enforced super easily and money is involved there, so people tryhard and do everything they can withing rules(some outside them too) to win and is not really about having great games, but about winning there. We are talking about ladder. Where people should want to improve and get higher rating, but should also want to have good games. Also again, this is not a tournament game, this behaviour is not nice and shouldn't be as an example, but so what, he lost some elo, not a tragedy.

sadly when someone is focused on gaining elo, any loss feels hard to digest.

Laming is not against the rules and shouldn't be.
Pausing is ambiguous and dependent on the individuals and given situation.

Also, recently players have been banned from tournaments for intentional point loss, perhaps they could look into dodging next.

Hoang has been a part of way more toxicity than this (both give and take) by many many players. I remember Villese called him a cancer on live stream. I remember heated arguments with many others as well. Hoang didn't seem keen on creating a post about reporting Villese or others then.

I presume there's more to it than just what seems at the surface. Dragonstar made a post about some Vietnamese players indulging in suspicious activities in a separate topic about Songsong. I wonder if Hoang was upset because of that and wanted to get back. Otherwise, don't see any way this warranted so much drama. /s

However there have been tournaments against laming, even against laming sheeps, so no, in those tournament's it is against the rules. And if it should be against rules or not it seems me and you won't agree on it, however maybe that's why it is good that some tournaments allow it and some not, so we can compare games and experience.

S-tier... off the top of my head laming was banned in NAC 3 and pausing for non technical reasons was banned in the most recent BOA
