Im willing to see a discussion (though it might have been started earlier ) about the Serjeant. This unit seems really "not all right" to me, someone might disafree, and the reason for all the problems is simple: TOO MANY civs exist. How to create a new balanced unit, if so many of those already exist. . .
These days the Serjeant costs 60f, 35 g, builds the special structure (Donjon), has 75 hp if ELITE, dmg is average at 11+4 after Elite and all upgrades. The movement speed is 0.9 which obviouslys "sucks" I might claim.
I believe the Serjeant should build houses , too, not just the special tower, since it might help the eco in a manner which is not direct and not quick, i.e. long term saving of villager time. And I feel the amount of armor of the Sicilian UU is kind of strange or even absurd, I mean it is a unit that must be something in-between the huskarl and the teutonic knight BUT DOES it MAKE SENSE to you?? In practise how might it work out ? Is it a useful unit above 1000 ELO _?
We all know ranged units are usually "more important" in modern AOE2 gameplay , i.e. maybe the devs felt that infantry these days cannot have just 1 pierce armor (1+4 after BS upgr.), so this is why this unit has much more. Who would like a jack-of-all-trades soldier anyway??
I´m not sure what has to be changed and to what extent, but I feel it might be better to think about changes.
I am not sure if increasing the movement speed a lot is OK, but I feel I d like to see that, then we have to think of lowering the pierce armor to 1 in age III / 2 in age IV after the Elite tech with +4 p. a. from the blacksmith.
