Indeed life doesn’t seem to get any easier as well.

Honestly it’s been one hell of a past 3-5 months.

From reaching my all-time highest rating in chess which I didn’t expect to hit so soon, to tilting 200 points down, to a family crisis involving two surgeries with a possibility of death beforehand (not regarding me), to someone carelessly putting a very toxic substance where one shouldn’t. Thankfully both surgeries went well — perfectly actually with no death, no one in the house ended up with any damage from the substance (it could’ve caused permanent disabilities), but my chess rating still suffers a little and I don’t play as much as I used to which doesn’t help.

Otherwise, I have a birthday coming up which I actually don’t really care about 11. I haven’t really cared about my birthdays for the past 10 or 12 years. For me at least, it may as well be any other day. I just use it as an excuse to do nothing or as little as possible.

I hope your past months have been better than mine 11.

Yeah there was a period when they streamed Viper coaching Nili a couple of years ago (I think some vids are on Nili's YT channel? not sure but that's how i remember it) and Nili kept arguing with Viper over many small things, often not giving him time to elaborate. It was really awkward considering it was Nili who asked for coaching... but most of the time it felt like Nili thought he knows better (he clearly didn't and in post game analysis it was being pointed out... but situation would repeat next game).

To be more precise, it looked like Nili was that overly eager student who is much more interested in showing off and making the teacher agree with him, than actually learning something. It took me by a surprise back then because i had never before seen similar attitude during a coaching session in front of viewers.
With the perspective of current drama, I guess this is deeply rooted in Nili and that's why he ignored Hera's continuous attempts to make "knights vs pikes" some educational content for viewers (a lot of people took this is a main lesson anyway and enjoyed this aspect!) - he simply isn't interested in learning or helping others learn, he's more about making other people look worse. I hope things can improve...

Stuff like this always interests me for the sake of psychology but also the teaching aspect a bit.

Yeah, one minute in it still looks like a simple Nili joke and Hera was taking it as one too. However things get more uncomfortable later on. It's a shame Nili's video was taken down and now we can only see it through the perspective of Hera's reaction video, impossible to get first impression anymore ^^" However Hera did include Nili's entire video in his reaction, it's just interjected a couple of times with the comments.

My take is that Nili wasn't trying to be a ****, just tried to be funny obviously German sense of humor is not on point here, but I would not give nili any **** for that, It was just as awkward as the other hundred jokes he makes with Dave, for instance, is just weird

What is there to discuss? Nili disagreed with Hera's statement, found it funny, and decided to make a video out of it; and Hera didn't like it/wanted to ellaborate to clarify his original statement because he felt attacked. Nili being reckless with his social skills (once again) and Hera taking it way too personally (once again).

Pretty low-tier drama TBH.

And there is the problem. Hera SHOULD be in a more powerful position and Nili should never talk as cocky as he did (as he is a noob that is constantly tryharding but never manages to qualify for any major tournament).

However, for some reason (maybe because he is friends with Viper) Nili thinks he has all the wisdom for himself. Typical arrogant behavior

And also i dont believe for a second that Nili didnt watch the video before it was uploaded. The total control freak that Nili usually is you can tell that thats a dirty lie to avoid taking any sort of responsibility

Nili is very clearly socially awkward, even accounting for the fact that he's German and the culture there is a lot less humor-based and sarcasm seems to land awkwardly. I've listened to a ton of Nili casting over the years, and there's been so many awkward moments between him and other casters just because his sense of humor is a bit odd and he doesn't have the best social awareness in my opinion. I can think of a number of interviews with pro players after a loss and his questions are like "so why did you play so badly?" or something to that effect.

I don't think it's Nili being a bad person or attempting to be cruel/rude, I just think he doesn't really get it. I think Hera is definitely a more sensitive guy and reacts accordingly. I like them both and this drama doesn't really change that.

I obviously know Nili very well, so it might be easier for his viewers and those who know him to see that. Intent does matter, but it doesn't change how the receiving end might feel, and in the end the video was too much from Nili. As soon as he found out Hera didn't take it well, he took down the video and sent an apology to Hera. He should have probably sent a message to ask Hera if he was fine with this video beforehand, considering Hera was the target in the video. And Hera could have messaged Nili instead of making a response video.

Nili agrees with everything Hera says, but took the opportunity to try and add some comedic value to the statement of Knights counter Pikes. Live on stream it was fine, but edited like that, it came off worse.

Hera absolutely has the right to feel like it was unfair and the choice to respond however he likes, but I think the amount of people branding Nili as evil and intentionally doing this is just so over the top. The man booked hours and hours of training lessons from Hera, and I don't think one would do that from a guy one doesn't respect, want to learn from or think you know better than.

And those bringing up the lessons with me and his arrogance..., Questioning someone that might know more than you is the best way to learn. It's the best way unlock your own mind and actually figure out why your thought process might be wrong, as it sparks the discusson and clarifies everything. And just because someone is a better player, doesn't mean they'll be right in every situation.

Was just a mistake, simple as that, no need to hang the guy for making a mistake with no ill intentions.

Mistakes do happen in streaming or posting content publicly. The video is definitely in the wrong taste for general viewers and comes as offensive to Hera viewers. As Viper indicated, Nili apologized to Hera and removed the video.
