The Medieval Wars 2013 Final Standings:
1st - TyRanT
By losing two games in total through the whole tournament, it goes without saying that TyRanT has, once again, proven to be the strongest team. Beating RVK 6-1 in a convincing fashion during the Grand Finals was indeed their highlight as they lived up to the expectations, bringing home the winning prize of 3250$.
2nd - Revenge of Knight
Being the fan favourites, a lot of Age of Empires II fans wanted to finally see TyRanT dethroned by RVK. Proving strong enough to reach the Grand Final without much trouble, there seemed to be yet another distance to cover before they can reach that goal. Maybe we will see the RVK team more prepared, well practiced and stronger when War is Coming? For now, they have to settle with 2nd place and 2250$.
3rd - Chinese Kung Fu
Winning the Bronze Finals on an Admin Win is not the way anyone would have it, nor CKF themselves, but unfortunately sometimes such decisions have to be made. Being one of the two teams to take a win off the winners, they follow up The Tribal Wars with stable, strong performances, and we are looking forward to see what the so far dominant Chinese team can prepare for when War is Coming. They won a total of 1250$.
! As soon as TMW13 ended, the team issued out a challenge for RVK to put up 500$ each in a Best of 11 series to find out which team is the stronger. The challenge was accepted, and hopefully we'll see their games soon!
4th - SY Team
Again, unfortunate turn of events when they had to give an Admin Win to CKF in the Bronze Final, but they still made it into a strong 4th place, securing two Chinese teams in the top 4. SY keeps improving, and will without doubt be a top placement contender for future events, maybe they can take a big step and compete for the top spot soon? With their 4th place, they brought 950$ across the borders.
5th - Power of Japan
If you haven't watched POJ's matches throughout this tournament, you've missed out bigtime. Not being seeded in the top 8 seemed to make the Japanese team burn to prove it a mistake, and deary me did they do so! All of their games in the Final Stage, besides vs TyRanT, all ended in 4:3 victories! That means that in every stage they had an ace match, and showed everyone that they perform extremely well under pressure! Maybe the Tournament Administration will think twice before leaving them out of the top seed again? The most impressive team of the tournament made a total winnings of 600$ with their 5th place.
6th - Viet Nam Strategy A
Being lead by Masters of Arabia 2v2 Edition finalists, bacgioifro and Yellow, a lot of us were curious on how far they could go in The Medieval Wars. Everything went smooth untill they hit a rock in SY Team at the Quarter-Finals and were knocked down to the Placement Matches. Beating (hong kong) Poison of Zone in an extremely tight 4:3 victory helped them advance to the 5th Place Match, where they fell short in another 3:4 match against POJ. The vietnamese keep improving, and they've shown their potential in the tournaments these recent years, but only the future will show how far they can really go! Their 6th place brings them 450$.
7th - (hong kong) Poison of Zone
Still going strong after all these years and still placing high in every single tournament. (hong kong) poZ is a team that shows and delivers every single tournament, and deserve the utmost respect for their efforts over the years. We're sure they had higher ambitions for The Medieval Wars, but a 7th place is still very strong with the line up of the teams above, even though they won the 7th Place Match on an Admin Win. Winning 350$ this tournament, we expect to see them once again when War is Coming!
8th - Team Fully Torqued
Merging for this tournament, the team had enormous potential. The ambitions were high, and everything seemed so promising after beating aLcoHooligans 4:0 in the First Round of the Final Stage. But, after falling short to CKF, followed by a loss to POJ, the motivation for the team to complete the tournament in style seemed to fall drastically, and they unfortunately ended up having to award (hong kong) poZ and Admin Win for the 7th Place Match. Will the team stay together in order to redeem themselves, or will they walk seperate paths and seek honor and fame elsewhere? The future seems uncertain for TFT, but what is certain is that they win 200$ for finishing 8th.
At last, The Medieval Wars 2013 Administration wants to thank everyone who has been watching and shown interest in the tournament. We also want to thank all the teams and players who took part, from the first round to the last, and hope that you felt that we did a good job guiding you through this amazing event. And of course we can't forget the sponsor, words can't describe what he's doing for this game.
Any constructive criticism or feedback about the tournament is very welcome from every single one of you.
But for now we're building up for the first edition of the Clash of the Titans, and hope both players and viewers will show the same excitement in order to make it a huge success! Thanks again!
War is Coming.
