The Greatt Cup Announcement

It is with greatt pleasure that @obathegreatt announces The Greatt Cup, a 1v1 RM tournament featuring the 8 best players from Brazil. The event will feature a prize pool of R$5,000.00 (≅$937), which Oba makes a point of thanking his friends and viewers of his stream for this prize. The 8 players will face off in a single elimination bracket and they will be seeded based on the average highest/current ladder elo.

PARTICIPANTS

Players will fight for their way into the tournament through their ratings and the 8 with the best averages between their current rating and the highest rating they've ever achieved will qualify. At the time and date limit, at 11:59pm BRT on October 3rd (2:59 GMT on October 4th) - we will take the ranking and define the players, which will be announced at 3:00pm BRT on October 4th (18 GMT on October 4th). The 1st will face the 8th, the 2nd will face the 7th, the 3rd will face the 6th and the 4th will face the 5th.

FORMAT

The 8 players will face each other in quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, in addition to the dispute for 3rd place. All games will be Bo7. Quarter-final matches will be played and these matches will be casted with RGs. The semifinal, 3rd place and final matches will be casted live.

SCHEDULE

• 11:59pm BRT, October 3rd: Deadline for collecting ratings (2:59 GMT on October 4th);
• 3:00pm BRT, October 4th: Brackets announcement (18 GMT);
• October 4th to 10th: Period for players to organize their game schedules;
• October 11th to 17th: Period for players to play quarter-finals;
• 7:00pm BRT, October 19th to 22nd: Quarter-finals casting with RGs (22 GMT);
• 11:00am BRT, October 23rd: Semifinals casting (14 GMT);
• 11:00am BRT, October 24th: 3rd place match casting, with the finals casting shortly thereafter (14 GMT).

PRIZEPOOL

The BRL 5,000.00 (≅$937) will be divided as follows:

• 1st - BRL 2,000.00 (≅$375)
• 2nd - R$1,000.00 (≅$187)
• 3rd - BRL 600.00 (≅$112)
• 4th - BRL 400.00 (≅$75)
• 5-8th - BRL 250.00 (≅$47)

MAPS AND CIVILIZATIONS

The highest seeded player will be A and the lowest seeded player B.

The maps will be as follows, from The Open Classic version:

Arabia, Arena, Atacama, Fortress, Gold Rush, Hideout, Islands, Land Madness, Nomad.​

Maps draft:

• Pick: A - B
• Ban: B - A
• Pick: A - B - B - A (for Bo7)

Civilizations:

• Players will select civilizations as follows: A, B, B, A, A, etc. up to 8 for each player.

STREAMING

Oba will stream all tournament games on his stream, https://www.twitch.tv/obathegreatt, however, the stream is open to everyone. The only things Oba asks is that if you want to cast, put in the stream title "The Greatt Cup hosted by ObaTheGreatt" and use the image below somewhere in the overlay during the streaming of the games. Brazilian community was in need of a tournament like that for a long time. Glad you, with the help of all supporters of course, managed to do that @obathegreatt. Thank you guys for organizing it!

 

It would be even better if you guys had made it open for all brazilians.. not only the best 8!

I don't remember to have seen Falcao in a 1v1 tournament ever. I have seen him in team games with other Brazilian players, even almost 10 years ago, so I know who he is, just quite curious about his shape.
dogao should still be the clear favourite, but might be interesting if Falcao has improved recently. Is he aiming to also participate in more tournaments?
