What are your thoughts on playing the ai's for improvement vs human players?

well, i think playing vs them can give you some improvement in general playing skills, and mostly things like the smartest way to build defenses, or offensive defenses, like i do a lot. Ways to improve map control, like team-walling, forward building, boxing in your castles. Or maybe that is just my way i make me feel safe.
I think the best thing about AI is that you never have to wait for game, you can play and abuse it countless times, can try and experiment things you are not sure about in human vs human games. This way you can expand your trick box.
But, the downside is, an AI is rarely situation aware, which makes it actually quite easy to fool. The worst about playing vs AI is that you get used to this blindness, which a human does not have.

It is a punching bag, it can swing back at you, but will not outsmart you (i hope). It gives you time to perfect your basics: economy, builds, multitasking, offensive approach, defense vs massive rushes, unit control in battles, or do all the same time. But it will not (yet) replace the smart counters, go-arounds and micro a human does.

And off course, you can use it to train specific situations, like this 3 TC start map i played yesterday. My friend heartless thought it would be a tough game and started making defenses. I thought rams could help us out.

the new barbarian 2.18 gives great games on random land maps. It puts up a great fight. Good teamwork, hard attacks, good micro. Here are some of our latest games.

The AI player composition is Random AI with generic names. 50% chance for Barbarian 2.18, 20% for Barbarian 2.17, and 10% each for Promi, The Horde and Tribal Warriors.
