Dear Age of Empires Community! I'm proud to present the 2019 Age Community Awards - a concept to express our appriciation to those who work countless hours to produce content and entertainment to the entire community!
How will this work?
For every award, unlimited amount of nominations may occur. See nomination process for details below. After the nomination deadline, a committee of AoE2 experts and the community will do a hidden, anonymus voting on the nominees in each category. The committee will be made up of approx. 15 members including streamers, community contributors and players. The community will make their votes as well for a value of 5 votes global. This means, that the community and the committee will have 20 global votes - 25% of it being community votes. To ensure fairness in community voting, people will be asked to provide their twitch/youtube profile when voting, to make sure each individual only votes once. This also means, that accounts created after this announcement are not eligible to vote.
After the voting closes, the winners will be announced at a pre-announced time. The point of this is not to financially reward any of the nominees. Awards do not carry ANY financial part, only a small trophy/plaque and a letter of appriciation.
For all awards, only events that took place in 2019 in their majority are eligible. As an example, NAC3 is not eligible, since only the qualifiers will be played this year.
Since this project also does have the cost of awards and shipping costs, any financial contribution is really appriciated. My estimates for total cost is approx. 300-400 EUR, depending on where I have to ship the awards. If you would like to help me out with the costs of these, please message me
Who will be the members of the commitee?
To be announced.
How is the committee deciding?
The committee members will submit their votes individually to me. No committee member will be aware of the others' votes. Committee members involved in a certain category (e.g. being nominated for a given award) will not vote in that given category. The only person aware of the votes will be me. To ensure fairness, this also means I will have no voting right.
Update: To make sure I cannot alter received votes by any means, a respected community member will be asked to oversee my work, also seeing votes.
How does the nomination work?
Every member of the community is welcome and encourage to nominate community members for the awards listed above. The amount of nominations a certain person can make is not restricted. A community member may not nominate his/herself or any project (s)he was involved in. Every nomination has to be followed by the reasons why a given person is nominated for an award (recommendations below):
• In the case of events, a description of the event and a list of notable participants. Recordings of memorable games. If the event was streamed, VODs of notable games.
• In the case of player awards, an overview of the nominated player’s career this year, including notable tournament results.
• In the case of streamer awards, a brief description why a given streamer would be an appropriate candidate for an award, including the projects (s)he was involved in.
• In the case of community awards awards, a brief description why a given community member would be an appropriate candidate for an award, including the projects (s)he was involved in.
Nominations may only be submitted until the nomination deadline. The nomination also has to be complete and include details listed above.
