khmer is utterly ridiculous in the fact that they can do a 30+0 fc (28+2 timing) into a 4tc instaboom (lay 3 other tcs at once) afford wheelbarrow, bow saw, heavy plow and be able to sustain vill productions in all 4 tcs all at the same time with around a 26 minute imp.
While i get that some bonuses for other civs synergize well with eachother. the fact that the no prerequisite/farm thing synergizes tooo well with the khmer being able to pull off some ridiculous booms into a strong late game power unit that is usually viable after a big boom. (even more so than paladins.)
as for team positions, i kinda like it. although i miss the randomness of the old system. it helps premade teams of friends be able to play at positions where they are most suitable/comfortable with and helps play to the strengths of certain players. looking at you, basedmax
