With the DLC we also got some good content for everyone for example the new maps.
Size the Mountain:
:
I have already posted about this but going to include it here again. In about 2 in 5 map creations the central woodlines merge and create this wall of trees that can be closed of, sometimes by a single house creating a more closed then intended map.
This happens less and less the bigger the map gets so 6p+ maps work out fine. Other then that I think the map is fine but not very exiting.
Atacama:
Overall this seams to be an improved version of Arabia with less walls and more feudal action, I am a big fan but the map generates more or less the same every game (as intended) so maybe it's not as replayable.
I would like this map to have alternative versions (like Arabia sometimes spawns as Green Arabia,) so it doesn't look the same every game. maybe make a version with more hills, 11 instead of 7 trees in a clump or something like that. No big changes needed just some alternative versions so the map stays fun over many games.
African Clearing:
First of all I think the name is bad, it's very non descriptive of the map and it's location it's like calling a map "European Forest" or "Asian Coastline" instead of Black Forest or Sea of Japan. On the gameplay it self I think it plays out better then Bedouins thanks to the smaller woodlines that are not attached to the ponds. There are some obvious civilisation balance problems for this Spanish, Chinese, Indians and most of all Sicilians are a lot better on this map then the average civilisation and that's fine to some extend but I think it's worse here then on most maps.
The map also generates more or less exactly the same every game so some additional variations would be welcome same as Atacama.
Coastal Forest:
I like this map a lot but it has some very big problems, first it spawns the exact same every time. The mountain is under the big central forest, the extra golds are in the bottom right corner, the water is on the left and top border, the Relics are along the shore line and sometimes one of them is in the forest and the TC's are at the same spot every game.
The second problem is that lameing is very powerful, since everyone knows the location of everything before the game even starts it's very easy to snipe a dock or lumber camp villiger or take a boar.
My solution is to (surprise surprise) include more variation into the map, maybe switch up the Relic positions with the gold sometimes, make the hill bigger or turn it into a crater in some generations, just mirror everything, put the water on the bottom and right borders and so on.
The second option is to replace the starting scout with a horse or other non damaging unit but that's kinda lame.
Amazon Tunnel:
It exists, I haven't actually played this one since it is not in the map pool. It looks like a more Black forest version of Black Forest, if anyone has some thoughts on this map I would love to hear them.
