T90 Titans League - Season 2

The first S-Tier event of 2023 is coming - T90 Titans League is back!


The T90 Titans League is a recurring league which aims to provide a consistent high level stage for pro players to hone their skills, and give newcomers a chance to prove their ability and advance into the upper echelon of players.

Season 2 will begin on 2nd January with 5 weeks of round robins before getting into the playoff round. Players will be placed into ‘pots’ based on their previous placement within T90 Titans League. They will then be randomly drawn, with one player from each pot in each group.

The draw took place on Tuesday 27th December at ~21GMT here.

Players will be given a large degree of flexibility over scheduling. If they wish to stream their POV, they will be required to play during predetermined slots. These slots will be at 16GMT, 18GMT and 20GMT on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
If players are unable to play in an available slot, they may play private games, with no pov streaming allowed and the recorded games will be broadcast at another time.

There will be open casting during these timeslots (and of published recs at anytime).

Really confused by Microsoft's priorities here. Why is this getting less prize money than a much less serious tournament like Wandering Warriors Cup? If this is supposed to be aoe2's GSL (which would be great) it really needs to have a commensurate prize pool.

Didn't they pre-fund 2-3 seasons of TTL?

 

I can't speak to how the prize money is agreed with MS as I have not been a part of that process but yes this is the second one so in reality the prizepool of this has been $45,000 so far. T90 openly talks about the intention of this being a regular recurring thing so hopefully we will see it continue to be successful and help grow the high level player base.

Yep, Silver has been going on all month and will conclude tomorrow with 9 names being promoted to fill the relegation spots from Gold.

Gold & Platinum will begin this week and play out similarly to how S1 did.

 

Ok well just change the Liquipedia tier and we're good to go then.

We don't have any control over Liquipedia tiers, they decide based on their own criteria (https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/Liquipedia:Notability_Guidelines).

That is actually an apt description, as the prize pool and prestige is higher in the higher leagues. Nice!

Pretty wild start to S2 week 1 from promoted players. Ganji took a game from Jordan, Dracken took a game from Yo, and Running won 2-1 over Vinch who was Season 1’s champion!

And is it really a suprise Jordan dropped a game? I think he played crossbow camels instead of trash as byzantins vs daut khmer knights crossbow. Im still mentally damaged of this decision
Is BacT really playing this tournament? I thought he is inactiv? Would be great to see him back (but full commitment return) when on his peak he plays very highskilled - semi active BacT is not that entertaining to watch, only for the fans of the opponent

I love the idea of TTL, but it's super hard for me to find out what game is played when and especially casted where, or rather where I can find a VOD or YouTube video of it.
I understand this might be in Liquipedia, but it's super hard to navigate that without spoilers. Same for this thread, as I just found out.
@T90Official , is there any nice VOD collection or smth from your stream, or any other help in seeing a schedule for this event WITHOUT results already in? It's a pain in the butt already for normal tournaments (everything becomes a minefield), but for the TTL it's even harder due to the format with no 'clear' bracket for the League Phase.

iirc he said he wont cast every match but it will be a pretty high number in the group stage.
For schedule, there will be fixed times for live casts. Monday, Thursday and Saturday and each day 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00 GMT. If there are not enough live games, it will be filled with rec casts, e.g. last thursday and saturday had 2 live casts and 2 rec casts.
If you want to have another source for schedule other than Liquipedia, you need to join the discord server or hope that someone uses the Aoezone calendar.

If someone wants to, I'm sure they can do it, even easier if using dashboard which provides some links (not every streamer is linked there, so you still need more manual work), but I have zero interest in that.

If you're hoping to watch TTL live, the group stage will always be at 16GMT/11amEST every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday until playoffs. No exceptions, there will always be games to cover and I'll be doing roughly four sets (if not more) each of those days for the next month. Some of these games will be live and many will be recs, but recs maintain the live feel because the results have not been shared or seen by anyone prior to the release of them.

If you're looking for stream vods (the fastest way to have access to casts) you go to fb.gg/T90Official on desktop and then scroll down below to see the vods. That area will include any videos that have been uploaded, but it's easy enough to see the vod titles as they'll have something related to Titans League and then have at it.

If you follow the TTL Season 2 Playlist on Youtube (or just my T90 Extras channel) you'll find every single play all 3 that I cover. It'll take a day or two for it to be uploaded after it's covered on stream, but they'll be coming fast enough and in 4k quality. In each video we edit in the results of the group I am covering in that video, but only show results that have already been covered/casted publicly, nothing that isn't already accessible (there may be some slight exceptions to this as there will inevitably be a few sets from platinum that I will not be able to cover.) So there will be instances where you may be catching up with a group, but you get to see the relevant group standings the players had when that series began.
If you're hoping to know specifically which set is happening when, that's always a bit last minute due to player scheduling but you can join the TTL discord. In announcements we post the schedule for the upcoming cast. For example at the time of writing this, it shows that Dark vs MbL will begin at 16GMT and Viper vs Sitaux will be at 18GMT.

This may seem like kind of a petty complaint, but I'm really not a fan of games being played out of order. To use group D as an example, Sitaux will almost certainly be fighting to stay in Platinum in that group which includes Viper/Tatoh/Villese. So for him to play Viper (round 5) out of order kind of takes away from the drama of it. Now his last round will be (or should in theory be) against Sebastian which does not carry the same weight as a Viper matchup.

In general scheduling has been a bit strange so far. 11/12 round 2 matches currently unplayed and unscheduled? Then on Saturday probably 4 matches will be scheduled same day and unless you're sitting there pressing refresh you won't know about them. Not the easiest thing to follow along with.
