T90 leaves Twitch, moves into FB Gaming

Uhh, okay? I haven't watched him in a long time, whenever his streams became less and less analytical and more and more funny entertainment, which is not my thing. I didn't even know Facebook Gaming was a real thing until this announcement. I seriously thought Facebook Gaming was as fake as his joke announcement about moving to Facebook Gaming. Good luck to him nonetheless. I hope Facebook gave him a mountain of money for completely uprooting himself to take what I suppose to be a blind gamble for even bigger money than Twitch.

Like chachotanlines said, this only feels sad/bad because I remember being on T90’s stream back then, day of, when he said he wouldn’t leave “you guys” because “you’re helping pay the bills”. Pretty much word for word too if my memory isn’t failing me. Loyalty has always been a huge thing for me too in general and seeing it from others.

If this can also fit, I actually don’t judge T90 as a person here at all. Just a sad set of circumstances on the whole.

Getting to 1.4k on the ladder by playing with a controller is among the most impressive and entertaining AoE II journeys to see for sure. I feel sorry for his most recent loss streak as controller player burning him out on controller playing ranked for about a month. But on the good news there are still vs. viewer games as controller player, which look like a more chill way to play a hard challenge like playing an RTS with a controller.

 

I don't have a Facebook account as all of my friends. Good luck nevertheless. Think it's a dying platform though.

Amazon hasn’t been hungry enough in the gaming space, so I’m not surprised to see them pulling streamers in.

You all act as if T90 would be able to be okay if the game popularity wanes in a year or two. Remember he is blessed to live in America, which means

- he has to pay his own health insurance
- he has to put money away for retirement
- he’s in a field that is difficult to transition to another profession without likely having to move (Florida doesn’t have a flourishing tech scene and American companies are quickly letting work from home evaporate), assuming he couldn’t stream another game and would want to utilize his content skills for a company
- he wants to be able to take care of his loved ones

If he can make more money to keep himself able to do this, he should. As should anyone else.

He will make a lot of money and once the contract ends he will come back. His absence will allow more room for other talented AoE streamers to shine and grow their audience - Dave, Ornlu, lidakor, monnfaller plus players. Everyone wins.

But downside could be his future tournaments not getting enough sponsorships due to low audience.

 

I listened to the 10-15 minute speech right now and I don't understand why he plugs it as just a change of an "URL". It's definitely not. Facebook is one of the most shittiest companies on earth right now. We call it "G-MAFIA", Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, IBM, Amazon. I mean yes, Twitch is owned by Amazon, but it was and it is one platform, that is really invested into streaming. Facebook is just taking streaming as one addition to it's really overall bullshit platform. But yeah, people do what they want to do. So be it.

EDIT: To add, it's not just the change of an URL because you actually need to become a member of the platform. To be part of a shitty platform like Facebook. You enable the wrongdoing of them by that due to the data you give to them. Your streaming habits etc. to even become larger etc. It's something you want to avoid at all costs.

What if there is another major LAN tournament? Does it mean T90 just flat out won't cast events for however long he has the FBG deal? At least not as in-camera talent for them.

Even just duo casting with Dave for most open events... I mean, has he isolated himself entirely from the rest of the scene? I really do want to know that.

According to one of T90's moderators on his discord (funsponge) as far as they know, he should be able to continue to cast all types of events, so crisis averted.

It's very likely exclusive deal. Just for reference, being a Twitch partner means that you agreed to stream exclusively on Twitch as well. So he most definitely won't be allowed to stream on both platforms. But I don't think he is banned from having guest appearances on other streams.

Facebook is the app where we have friends, your crush, family, some of you even ur sons, your boss,etc, i know a lot of people want to keep their IRL stuff separated from their hobbies, on fb you are using your name and maybe a picture of yourself, it's not going to be the same spam like a child "baby shark do do do " and feel like a normal human after that so i don't expect that all their twitch followers would follow him there, maybe some of his viewers would only watch the youtube content after the transition.

Just like viper he can't really miss the opportunity, he will keep his youtube channel active and if something goes wrong he will be back in a year, gl to him.

I personally can't stream on other platforms and that's basically it. I'll be able to participate within the community and with the community just as I always have, this was very important to me. This includes things like LANs and cocasters. No problem there.

He might be allowed to stream non-gaming stuff outside FB? At least Disguised Toast did that.

If thats the case, I would stream podcast kind of stuff occasionally on twitch just to keep the channel somewhat active.
